From what I understand, transferring CPA license to California is like “applying” for a new license. Two areas I need help with.

    1. Does anyone have experience between the educational requirements between these two states? Think I meet the requirement but the “accounting study” and “ethics” requirement seem a bit odd. Wanted to know if there’s anything obvious that people have experienced.

    2. Does anybody have any experience in trying to get the attest hours form signed by PwC? Not sure who the best contact is for this.

I had a family member transfer their license from VA to CA back in 2011. They just had to take the California Ethics Exam and get fingerprinted.

I know the California education requirements are now more strict than VA. I'm not sure if they will make you take the ethics class or not to transfer your license. Give them a call and report back what you find as I'd be interested to hear if you did in fact have to take additional classes (my family member did not in 2011).

    FAR - 76

    Thanks Needs.

I submitted my transcript to the CA board but they said they don't give out feedback on compliance on such things until I actually apply first. It'll take some time as I'm currently inquiring VA board and my former employer for forms needed for application.

Will post here once I apply and whether my ethics courses were sufficient.
