I have the Roger 2016 Review books and want to use them to study. What has changed for FAR since 2016? I also plan on buying at least one month of the NINJA review for FAR but want to know what I will be missing with the Roger material. My plan is to read through the Roger book and make flashcards (I already have flashcards made through the first quarter of the book). I will then buy the NINJA review. I also have the Wiley CPAexcel Exam Review 2016 Study Guide – FAR. Thanks!

Revenue Recognition was the big change in Q1 2018 when I sat for FAR.

    AUD - 92
    BEC - 89
    FAR - 79
    REG - 84

I didn't start studying for FAR until earlier this year and im not familiar with roger but do you still have a subscription? Only reason i ask is because i have becker and I am able to order “replacement books” for $25 a piece which have the updated material.

As far as the major things that have changed (no pun intended) I know revenue recognition is onr of them which was already mentioned. Im assuming if you haven't started studying yet you will be taking the exam sometime in Q1 2019 in which case the new leasing standard will also be tested.

    FAR - 81
    AUD - 79
    REG - NINJA in Training
    BEC - NINJA in Training

I checked with Roger and I can purchase updated 2019 books but they are $70 a piece plus shipping and taxes ($332 total for all four books) . Should I buy the 2019 books or just use the 2016 books and supplement with the NINJA course???

I *think* (not positive about this) in 2016 IFRS was the heavily tested subject on FAR, but now non-profit/government is. I think our masters program changed the curriculum just before I got there in the fall of 2016 to make non-profit/gov mandatory and international accounting optional cause of the big change on FAR.

In my opinion, I would buy the new book. 2016 is way too long ago of a book to be using to study for 2019 exams.

    AUD - 83
    BEC - 78
    FAR - 76
    REG - 79
    BEC: 78 (May 2017)

    FAR: 76 (Oct 2017)

    AUD: 83 (April 2018)

    REG: 79 (June 2018)

Did you try asking for the PDF updates? I use Rogers and on my dashboard it has an area for updates and you can click on it and it has section for what year you have and then any updates to the material since that years book. It only goes back to 2017 for me but that may be because I have a 2018 course myself. Just the 2017 update for FAR is a 165 page document so I can't really summarize the changes for you. I would recommend getting NINJA if you need cheap updated materials. I used them as a supplement to Roger and found them useful.

    FAR - 11/05/18 - 92

    BEC - 12/04/18 - 95

    AUD - 2/27/19 - 96

    REG - 4/17/19 - 93

    I’m done!!

Thanks all! Unfortunately Rogers doesn't offer PDF updates for the 2016 edition (only 2017 and 2018). I find that to be a bit of a turn off to their program so I've decided to give them no more of money. Instead I am going to use the NINJA monthly subscription program and supplement with the 2016 Rogers books.
