What is life after the CPA exam?

I’m taking REG (my final section) Nov 2nd. The CPA exam has been part of my identity for so long that I’m not sure what I’m going to do when it’s over. Sure, the studying sucks sometimes but I’ve grown to like the adrenaline from taking exams and getting psyched for score release. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just delusional from so many months of studying? 🙂

Sorry, I cannot wait to have my life back-even if it's sitting on the couch and binge-watching Netflix without guilt! I am sure my kids will also appreciate having their mom back:)

    no just no LOL
I hope I never experience anything remotely close to this again. Life afterward will be picking up the pieces. Organizing and cleaning my house which has sort of turned into a disaster, attending to my career 100% again, losing weight I gained from sitting all day, growing back hair from pulling it out, leaving the house, going on a vacation, and calling friends who probably thought I died since I've been MIA for 2 years.

Life is great after, I finished in the Q3 window, and after my celebratory dinner I have been eating better and going to the gym with my free time, already down 20+ lbs. It is kinda weird having all this free time, currently binging orange is the new black.

You are just delusional haha. Life will seem really good after the exam for a while – you'll be stoked on becoming a CPA and you'll be so grateful everyday that you are not studying (for a month or two). Then you kind of just go back to normal life and it becomes out of sight and out of mind so you don't really think about it anymore. Don't worry, you will still find new things to stress and worry about, hopefully just not always at the magnitude of the CPA exam.

And much like Skynet, the ladies have just become automatic. So get ready for that

Hahaha, these responses made me laugh. I don't have kids so that's been one less thing to juggle, and I've made taking vacations a priority in between sections so I always have something to look forward to. Definitely excited about netflix binges though!

As for the ladies, I'm happily married so I'll be sure to send them your way Skynet and CPA2Bee! 🙂

you're delusional. I'm having the same issue though. i finished on the sept 19 release window. still dont know what to do with all my free time. although i've done a cross-country move since then so that's kept me busy. otherwise i'd be going nuts.

I need a hobby. Next project is getting rid of that 30lbs from the last year of having my ass glued to an office chair.

Still a month later i'm in disbelief that it's actually over. It still hunts me.

Can't wait til I'm done. Recently had a phone interview with one of the top 5 firms for a Senior position (which would be drastically underselling my experience). I have about 6 years of experience.

I have been in touch with many other companies for Manager, Controller, and Director roles. But this top 5 company I had the phone interview with tried to bump me down to “experienced hire”…basically a first or second year staff.

These guys are cheap ripoffs. They don't care about talent, they only care about the bottom line. Once I am licensed though, you can bet they will be licking my boots.

I think I had about 2 months of excitement and felt like I was on top of the world. Then I found more things to worry about and things kind of went back to normal. I have a lot of less impostor syndrome now though–I feel confident that I've at least seen everything that can be thrown at me in some form. As for jobs, I'm still waiting on the license, so I haven't had people throwing offers at me or anything.

I'm worried about what I'll do when I no longer have to study. I'm hoping to be done this quarter (with God's grace!), so then I'll take the ethics exam and work on getting licensed. I'm considering a job move next year, but mostly I'm just looking forward to reading for pleasure again! And not neglecting my daughter and husband. Just…time.

I studied so much that I knew I would pass FAR (my last exam) and was really numb that the fact that I would finally be finished with this exam.

7 months later I still am traumatized from all the studying that I feel the urge to go home and study for something….its a void I need to fill soon.
