When Should I start Studying?

    Hi,

I am currently in an MSA program taking my last class.

I am in my thirties and I have many years experience as a risk manager for investment banks. I decided to transition to the CPA as I have the professional skepticism already from my career as a risk manager. Unfortunately, the working environment was very difficult as with companies offshoring to India and no protections due to at will employment.

I should be getting my notice to schedule soon. How far in advance should I register for the exam? If I was going to start studying today, should I register for the exam date that is 4, 5 or 6 months in the future?

I am going to take FAR first as I am just finishing my last class in the MSA program and that will give me great confidence if I study hard and pass it the first time.

Any advice is appreciated. I am starting with a CPA firm next week and I am not married and have no children.

    Thanks.

    study very hard for FAR

take FAR, if you pass, immediately move on.

If you fail, take FAR again until you pass it.

use your progress tests on your study software to gauge your preparedness.

    my .02

    AUD - 80
    BEC - 84
    FAR - 77
    REG - 79

yes you do. Start studying, after you have studied 1 chapter, estimate how long it will take you to be ready to test. Then schedule your test.

    BEC - 8/8/16
    REG - 66, 77
    AUD - 81
    FAR - 9/8/16
