Whoa! I wasn't expecting this…

I started studying for REG last week and I didn’t expect it to be more difficult or all over the place than FAR. Are you kidding me?! Maybe I shouldn’t have left this for last. Ugh! I hope it all comes together nicely like FAR as I ease toward the end because right now…it sounds like gibberish. I just want to be done already. Usually, I can watch the review videos and move forward, but I bet I’m going to have to watch the videos to set a base and then read the book as well. Leaving two weeks for review may not be best either. Perhaps, a three week review is better. Idk. Any tips?

I found that Ethics/Professional Responsibilities sections were not too bad, but definitely not like the other exams. Business Law was a nightmare for me (I pretty much skipped that whole section/skimmed it). Property Transactions were tricky for me. However, the Individual and Corporate Tax sections were more like learning FAR calculation wise and conceptually. I would highly recommend trying as best you can to get a grasp on the Law topics. I was very underprepared for the questions I got on my exam and was lucky to walk away with a 75.

I'm in the same boat as you! I knew REG was going to be hard but this is kind of overwhelming!

In my experience REG was a lot of memorizing. I didn't feel like it flowed as easily as FAR did. One piece of advice that really helped me was to print out all the common tax forms (1040, schedule A, etc.) to review. Looking at the tax forms and making small notes on it helped me to remember where everything went.

Agreed with above. It is helpful to review the forms and instructions to those forms.
Huge pain, but it helps you to understand how it all flows together.

Thanks, everyone! I had actually thought about printing the forms out as I was listening to Roger's constant references to the pertinent ones. Also, I'm going to purchase some more poster boards to write down some of the important information flows and more index cards for the law related items. Those were a couple of things I needed to do with FAR for cash flow, I/S flow, etc.

I'm guess I'm just going to have to jump in and live and breath this stuff until exam day.

To the OP – My advice for you is to devote your time; 70% to Taxes and Property Exchange Transactions and 30% to Bus Law.

You will encounter a majority of question and SIMS related to Taxes and Property Exchange transactions. The Bus Law is mostly memorization.
