If BLaw isn’t tested on TBS, then why on earth is Wiley creating TBS’s for me to do as part of study???? This is ridiculous

Wiley is known for giving you everything and letting you figure out the particulars. I have Wiley and I only do a walk through of certain TBSs based on the AICPA blueprints.

    FAR-Mar 9,2020 (failed 71), retest May 21
BEC-Passed(I had a few stops and starts because I was studying during my busy season. Lost track of my study stats.)
    AUD-Passed(8 weeks,1877 MCQs, and 38 TBSs)-Wiley
    REG-Passed(10 weeks, 2000 MC)-Wiley

@PDiddy2000 the only reason I did them was so it wouldn't show up as overdue. And it actually is decent review because it tests it at a deeper level. But it just tested me on Regulation D Rule 505. I was informed on Another71 that Rule 505 doesn't apply anymore. But it's in my Wiley January 2018 materials… ugh. I have Wiley because I became a campus rep my last semester of college, thus getting the software for free. And I'm not financially in a position to drop money on another one. But, I have felt prepared for the first 2 exams I've taken. I really like the test bank and the supplementary flash cards and focus notes.

I totally understand. Whatever it takes for you to get the desired results. I found it more efficient to trim some of the fat off the Wiley study materials. For example, I don't do any of the diagnostic or post assessments. I'm ok with assuming that I don't know anything before I read the material. However, I always listen to the lecture or read the material depending on my mood. Sometimes I do both for sections that are technical in nature. This was very common in FAR, not so much in AUD. Some days I'm just too tired to actively read but I always take notes while doing either of those two options. I do all the assessment questions after each section and I redo them in the testbank section then I do the actual testbank questions. Finally, I do all TBSs based on the AICPA blueprint for the related exam. I don't know if this works for me because of the delayed test scores for Q2. Hahahaha. Nonetheless, I'm using this approach for all three exams that I plan to take in Q2. We'll see if this is a good strategy for me.

I agree with PDiddy2000 about Wiley giving you everything and letting you figure out the particulars.

For the newbie all the material can be overwhelming.

I attribute my success to Another71, Jeff and all the people that post on these forums for giving me a roadmap to figure out this crazy puzzle called the CPA exams. There are so many different opinions and styles but if you read enough posts, you start to get a sense of what to do and who knows what they are talking about and who doesn't.

Fore every lesson I used to read the study text, watch the video, do the T/F questions, multiple choice questions, flashcards and finally the lesson assessment, TBS, pre-assessment and post assessment.

Recently I was only reading the study text, doing the lesson assessment and the test bank questions for each lesson and the TBS and post assessment. I have since stopped doing the test bank questions for each lesson because some of the test bank MCQs are really big for a single section.

Wiley has their cons but there are a lot of pros and overall I am satisfied with their materials even if I like to take shots at them from time to time. It's their computer systems that are the main problem as well as miscellaneous minor details that bug people. i've seen people talk about all the main CPA review courses on here. There are as many people that say they hate a particular review course and an equal amount that say they love it. Wiley is no different.

Oh, and Professor Jeanne Yamamura and Pam Smith are saints. I can feel their vibes and that they care about their students through the computer screen. Denise Probert who does the Wiley free webinars is really smart, strong and articulate. I like her style.

I'm in the same boat for REG using Wiley. There's about 80 TBS total and I started skipping them. I sit on Friday for REG and am hoping I can easily use the blueprints and some threads on here to pick out the TBS that are actually relevant. Right now, I have about 60 unattempted TBS's to sort through :/

I was scheduled to finish my review of BEC May 23rd, but today I logged in and Wiley moved it to May 19th. There was a content update, but I don't know what was updated. What the heck is wrong with Wiley!

    FAR - 70, 70, 76
    REG - 70, 80
(I used WileyCPA and Ninja-FAR only)

It took almost two years, but I am now finished with my CPA exams.

@skolvikes I'm from the south so Greg Carnes reminds me of home. And I also realized that the lecture videos, at least for REG, were taped in 2016…….You know… 2 years ago. Luckily, nothing drastic has changed since then except the grading weight of the exam

@skolvikes – You are gonna straight up own the exam Friday! Best of luck – keep me posted on how it went (although we both know the post exam feeling is never good …) I will be sitting Saturday. Let's make that pass rate for REG go up in Q2.

@Eric – thanks man. Good luck to you as well on your retake – should be a breeze after how close you were last time! I'll post in the REG exam experience afterwards. I am feeling pretty good currently. Really hammering on the things that appear to come up most like basis and corporate taxation. As always, the MCQ should be manageable, but the SIMS will make or break. After 3 exams, I have a much better grasp on what to expect for SIMS and it definitely helps me stay calm and rational while doing them. I think staying calm is an underrated key to the SIMS – just knowing that they will be intimidating eliminates the shock factor and enables clearer thinking and better decision making.

@skolvikes – Haha, lets hope second time is a charm – I'm up to like 3,300 MCQs through Ninja so the effort is there. I'm taking the full week off from work to brush up on some final topics and really hammer down on some Becker sims as well. I will post my exam experience as well after, although I'm sure I can probably write now how I will feel lol …

PS huge Dolphins fan (out of CT) here potentially making the trip to Minnesota with a Viking an friend of mine for the December game this year!

@Eric – lol no worries. That sounds like a recipe for success. For once it would be nice to walk out of there knowing I did alright, but we'll see.

That's awesome about the trip up here to MN. The stadium is sick!
