Wiley CPAexcel Skip Diagnostic Assessments?

Was curious if anyone else skips these Wiley CPAexcel diagnostic assessments before starting a new topic? I could see if you’re in a pinch for time and you think you know the topic well taking the assessment and moving on. But the questions you get are only re-asked after each lesson, and I’d rather see what I learned from the lesson than remembering questions.

I skipped both the diagnostic and the post assessments. I could see coming back in a few weeks and taking one of them, as a review, but not if you're doing Ninja MCQ too.

I like doing the post assessments to make sure I understand the basics, and they give you a nice sense of accomplishment to track your progress. I did the diagnostics for the exams where I was already familiar with the material, but I didn't do them for FAR since so many specifics had changed and I needed a complete refresher.

Thanks for your responses. I think skipping the “pre” test is the best way to go and I like taking the post assessments too. Even if the TBS are jacked up in Wiley, I think any practice is still pretty good.

I think the diagnostics are a big help for those who have trouble focusing through the reading/lectures. Even attempting them in areas I am completely unfamiliar with allows me to form some connection to the material. Reading or lectures become more beneficial since i already have some preconceived opinions formed. And it's much harder to just gloss over topics since I have already spent some time in the trenches with it.

For someone who doesnt have a problem absorbing the lectures and reading, then I could see cutting them out to make better use of time.

I never use the diagnostic exams. Seems pointless, because they are the same questions as in the lesson assessments and post assessments. I watch the video, read the text, take the lesson assessments, and then go back and review the lessons before taking the post assessments. I passed REG, and I got through everything for FAR and I'm doing a final review before the exam.
