    Has anyone had success using Wiley as a course and then doing MCQ and SIMS for both Wiley and NINJA. I am trying to pass (third attempt) AUD and can’t seem to get over the hump (68, 66). I feel good about the MCQs but I cringe with the SIMS every time. What worked for you with these tools?

    I took AUD 5 times before finally passing (56, 68, 61, 69, 85). I did not like Wiley for it. Ninja was my key to success. I hammered MCQs and didn't worry about studying for SIMs. If you know the information for the exam, then you should be able to handle the simulations pretty easily.

    So you had no lesson plan or course work. You just kept studying the MCQs by massive repetition and reading where you missed? Or did you do audio, notes, etc also.

    No lesson plan this last time around. Figured I'd already done the reading and stuff on previous attempts, so I just hammered MCQs. I would write down notes on the questions I got wrong, and I did listen to some audio in the car. After I got out of the assessment phase, I could clearly see where some weak areas were based on the scores. I would go back and read up on those areas in both the Ninja book and Wiley stuff, then hit questions on that area until I felt more comfortable. Then go back to random mixes. Wash, rinse, and repeat.

    I used Wiley & NINJA for AUD and passed on the first try. I'm now using Wiley & NINJA for FAR. I finished most of Wiley's book but now I'm diving into the NINJA MCQ's.. my test is June 4th.

    Has anyone else gone through all of the NINJA FAR MCQ's and managed to pass FAR? My plan is to go section by section and going back to the ones I got wrong/reading the Wiley book in areas that I'm not understanding. I want to make sure I understand all the NINJA MCQ's and as many of the SIMS as possible before the test. Seem like a good plan?

    @JLP
    When you say you used them both, what elements did you use and found useful come test time. I'm trying to take a different approach this time around.

    @DeMo I guess I should disclose that I did study for AUD using becker in 2010 (got a 74) and then again in 2015 (got a 73). I've been out of public accounting for 5 years and had spent 5 years in public.

    In Jan of 2018 I decided to study again and this time used Wiley. I went through the book and did the MCQ's after each lesson. I did skip the pre test questions but sometimes did those after the lessons. I then had 3 weeks to review and thats when I bought NINJA. Since I felt really comfortable with the material, I just did as many random MCQs to get into the adaptive learning phase. Once there, I drilled into my detailed progress report and any topic that I was low in, I would go directly to those problems and did them until I got them right (and understood the answer was the answer). I did this for all the categories in NINJA and then I just continued to do random MCQ's in NINJA until test day.

    I'm doing this same method for FAR, but rather than doing a bunch of MCQs in NINJA to get into adaptive learning, I'm going category by category in NINJA. I think I feel more comfortable tackling each area because I'm not as comfortable with FAR as I was for AUD since 1) I had gone through the material before and 2) I worked in audit for 5 years.

    Hope that helps!
