Hey all, as you can tell by my scores, I have yet to pass a test. I just am feeling really down about it. I keep telling myself that you are getting closer, you will get the next one.

Is it normal to not pass a test…………..this often……….

Any words of wisdom will be appreciated.

I honestly hate the number 67..... officially the worst number ever. Ugh, but 73 feels so much worse.

    AUD -  67 ; 73 - retake August.

    BEC - 69

    FAR - 63, 67, Retake TBD

    REG -  eventually 🙂

I have been in your position before. You can do it .Be focused. I know 73 hurts. I got AUD 74 and REG 72 before. I used Becker and Ninja Notes. Just try to understand the concepts and don't ignore any topics. Keep studying and just a matter of time you will be done. All the best. I am pretty confident next time you are going to ace it.

Me too. Just got my far score, it's so much lower than I expected. Not sure if I will ever pass any of the section. Sigh…..

    Keep going.

Took me three tries before I passed BEC. Then I went right back to a fail on REG. They happen. Just keep pushing. We're with you!

    Meg 267-

How did you increase your score 10 points each time ? I retake for 3rd time in MARCH 10. I was curious b/c I really need to pass because the new BEC will have SIMS and I dont want to deal with those.

I know… it is just a kick in the gut and the question goes through your mind. I am just scared because the MCQ i was scored stronger and the SIMS i scored weaker.. Now, they are going to be 50-50! EKK!

thank you everyone for the kind words and making me feel like part of the CPA family, not the slow sister….:-)

Hey there – first of all that cat is really cute.

Second of all – It took me 13 months and 4 failed exams to pass my first one. I also no-showed one in there as well, so we can place that at 5. My battle map looks not to different from yours: FAR – 65, BEC – No show, FAR – 71, FAR – 68 (blew off studying whoops), BEC – 71, FAR – 76!!!

I felt awful about myself the entire time. But I think Meg's signature has the quote that kept me going – “No one ever fails the CPA exam, there are those that just give up”. Don't give up and you won't fail.

Now all I have left is one exam. If I can do it, you can definitely do it. Practice those SIMs! They are the worst, I know. But they really solidify the concepts, and I didn't pass until I practiced them. REG was the only exam I passed on the first try, and I attribute that to studying the SIMs.

You are closer. and you will get the next one! You just need to find the best study strategy for you.

I got a 91 on my first test and I think it ended up being a bad thing for me. I got three consecutive 74's after that because the 91 made me more confident than I should have been. I would argue that getting those 74's really helped me in the long run because failing multiple times in a row really humbles you and makes you realize that you are going to have to work your butt off to pass this thing. I have since changed my study habits and passed my last two in a row but it is only because of those fails that I am passing now. Also, I would argue that 74 is the worst score and I don't think they should be allowed to give them out. It is cruel. Best of luck to you! Just remember, we are all in this together, we will all be rooting for you and we are here if you ever need encouragement.

I feel your pain.. I have not passed an exam yet – closes was a 74 on AUD. I've taken off 4 months now after a full year of studying and testing for a total of 5 times failed. I used to think it was silly for people to switch sections – I mean “why not just pass the one you've already tested for” but after my 3rd attempt at AUD, I thought I needed a boost and try to pass a different section like BEC.. and I failed (wasn't close to ready – didn't study – should of done a No Show) – so now I'm like the “others” that I used to judge when I first joined the forum but now I have walked a mile in their shoes and understand why they did that. I just want to see a “75” atleast once.

I'm now getting back on track and studying again – I needed the break. Good luck to everyone 🙂

I am so glad that each of you are sharing your positive vibes. I wish all of you luck. I don't think I would have picked up my books today. Honestly, woke up pissed off and said to myself (husband is now looking at me with a frighting – she is talking to herself again look) you are a pain in my ass test and I have placed to much money and time into passing you. I will pass each and everyone one of you (became a bit louder as I was saying it). Ugh, sometimes the yelling makes it feel better. A weight seemed to be lifted off my shoulders.

On to BEC. Then most likely back to AUD.

I feel like I am going in circles……….round and round we goooooo!

I found out that the best way I retained information was to make tables and comparisons for everything. I made tables upon tables of IFRS vs GAAP (operating vs capital lease differences, amortization differences, R&D differences). Then a table for CIP vs. Completed Contracts vs. Installment Sales (with real examples from Becker & including JE all on one page). Then a table for SL vs DDB vs. $Value LIFO etc, table for individual vs corporate vs partnership taxation, a flowchat for contract law, etc It's crammed, but I would use different colors so that the differences stood out to me. My biggest problem was that I understood it all, but would get confused between different methods. So, when I saw it in a table / compare format, I visualized that on my exam and that really helped me. I also did a 100Q Progress Test every single day + 7-8 simulations. I would start with Chapter 1 sims and work my way down every day and then repeat. Personally, I like giving myself 1 week / chapter and then 3 weeks in the end to review. By the end of it, I had gone through about 1,000 progress test Q's and done simulations of each chapter 3 times. I also keep track of all my progress tests in a google spreadsheet. It usually doesn't post in this forum, but if you give me your e-mail, I can share the link directly with you and you can see my scores from Becker vs. Real exams. Some would call my method excessive (especially the 100Q part); however, I can get through them in less than 2 hours and it's so worth it. I don't think I came out of a single exam feeling surprised / shocked by the content. All that being said, 74 is a B****!

    BEC – 85
    REG – 74, 86
