Will it hinder or help me to diversify my credits?

    Hi everyone,

So I’m getting a certificate in taxation now but I will need 13 more credits. However, I don’t want to be one dimensional even though I enjoy tax and would like a career in tax… so I was thinking maybe a second certificate in forensic accounting for the remaining credits. With that I would have 150 but be a little more eclectic with my credits. I thought that it might help since I am going to be aiming for small firms so they can perhaps use my help in multiple areas, but I don’t know if they will be unimpressed by me only having certificates and not a MS. Also, I haven’t passed the CPA yet and feel that maybe varying my credits would help me pass FAR and AUD since they are my weak areas. I do not want to go into industry unless it is a Tax position or gov’t like the IRS. Yes I have a BS in Accounting but it hasn’t really helped me, the professors were either too hard or too easy for me to learn much of anything even though I had around a 3.4 and that was 7 years ago.

    Thanks a lot

    VCW
