HI, I’m new to the forum and pretty early in the process. Wrapping up my last classes this quarter.

I’m concerned about my work experience meeting the requirements. I have worked under a CPA for more than a year, but he is licensed in Texas and I’m taking the exam in California. Do any of you know if this is an issue?

    FAR - 86
    REG - 82

Do.  Or not do. There is no try.

    Shouldn't be an issue.

Being required to do all your time under a CPA in the state you're getting licensed in would be silly.

    -----------------------------
    BEC - 77, 03/2015 (first try)
    FAR - 79, 05/2015 (second try)
    REG - 83, 12/2015 (first try)
    AUD - 84, 03/2015 (first try)

I got 99 problems but the CPA ain't one.

I'm not aware of any states that don't allow this, but it would be a state-by-state issue, so could exist. However, the CBA handbook does specify directions for out-of-state supervisors:
https://www.dca.ca.gov/cba/applicants/applbook.pdf page 11 of PDF (numbered page 7 on the document)

    Out-of-State Supervisor License Verifications
If your experience is obtained outside of California, the CBA requires written verification
from the out-of-state licensing body with which the supervisor holds a valid active
license to practice public accountancy. The CBA will send you a verification form that
must be mailed to the out-of-state licensing body issuing the supervisor’s CPA license.
An official seal of the out-of-state licensing body issuing the license to the supervisor is
required on the signed document. It is your responsibility to provide the fees associated
with the completion of the verification. A verification for an out-of-state signer will not be
sent until such time as an application for licensure is received by the CBA.

The only question I'd have from that would be if you're working in CA but your boss is licensed outside of CA whether that would present any other issues, but I don't think it's likely. You could call or email the CBA to confirm, but I'd assume that you would follow this process to get the verification of your boss's license from the TX CPA Board, same as you would if you had been working out of state.

I am applying for California CPA license, and CBA request the Out-of-State Supervisor License Verifications. My boss's license was issue by Indiana board. I reached out to Indiana but they suggest CA to use their online search and they said they don't complete the form verification and never received this form before. Anyone encountered same issue? Thanks for any advice!

@Loneonly: So how did you go about the Out-of-State Supervisor License Verifications. I am in a similar situation.
