    Took FAR on Friday. Can confirm that SIMs sucked, I don't think there was a single SIM besides research that I felt confident with. Hoping I did well enough for some solid partial credit though. Only thing keeping my hopes up is that my second MC testlet was significantly more difficult than the first

    I also took FAR on 8/4. First teslet MC wasn't too bad, second was significantly more difficult. SIMS…who knows. Even the easier ones (less info and less to answer) I'm not really sure, felt like none of them were straight forward and that they're something that you can't really prepare much for.

    @determinedCPAer Jesus I am so discouraged after seeing your mock score. Taking FAR on Friday and got a 67 on my first mock exam and 62 on the second. I feel I'll be ok someway or another though, but your score is awesome

    So I finished both mock exams. I felt like the MC was unnecessarily difficult and complicated but I anticpate the actual exam MC will be a little shorter and more straight forward. That was exhausting. Can't wait to just take this thing already

    My tests have all been early afternoon (like 12:30pm) and I usually briefly go through condensed notes, main trouble points to just refresh one last time while eating before I leave. Usually takes around 20 mins, I don't really intend to do much more than that

    Overall: warrior mentality, game day, showtime. You put in the work, you know what you know, you're ready to rock. Get hyped up, blast your favorite songs and sing along and jump around, do some physical movement. Car ride on the way there jam out with the windows down, let out a scream, even give yourself a pep talk in the bathroom mirror beforehand. You should be EXCITED to take this test, not nervous. Channel that energy into positivity and excitement, not negativity and nervousness.

    Here's what I personally think has helped me: The physical effects of anxiety are due to the fight or flight response and release of adrenaline that your body produces when it thinks you're about to be in danger. I've been told your body is preparing to “fight a dragon” and thus the increased heart rate and feel of panic and all that. So basically your body is getting all hyped up, with nowhere to go. Doing brain stimulating studying isn't going to release this adrenaline. However, doing some sort of physical activity will: working out, running, hitting a punching bag, playing sports, etc. This will release endorphins and is your version of “fighting.” So for me, I like to do some sort of physical activity to “fight the dragon.” Also, might sound crazy but letting out a good scream while driving in the car helps me release that energy as well. It sounds weird but try it, guaranteed to make you feel good. Just let it go.

    I find that channeling the nervous energy into positive, hyped up energy helps. I try to make myself excited rather than scared. If you've ever been really excited, you know that sometimes it feels similar to being really nervous. So I pretend I'm super pumped to take the test, get amped up, listen to some exciting music and motivational videos and pace around all excited.

    @hopingtogetfar While I understand your disappointment, that's really not that bad IMO. I got a 58 on practice test for REG like 2 days before the exam and still pulled off a 75 so don't get discouraged!

    @hopingtogetFAR May I ask what you got? I just finished my first mock exam and am pretty content with the score, although now I need to go through it and see how much I really knew, if I got lucky on some, or if I made stupid mistakes

    Does anyone else feel like the Becker MCQ on the practice tests are super hard? Feel like the majority are not very straight forward and contain multiple nuances to the questions :/

    @determinedcpaer I've generally been doing 90 a day which is totally doable but by the end I'm kinda getting burned out. I've been doing sets of 30 ch-10 progress tests. On one hand, that equates to only doing 9 MCQ from each chapter per day. But on the other it's good because I'm getting exposed to everything. I'm afraid if I focused on individual chapters I'd start to forget the others so I just do comprehensive ones. I've been scoring anywhere from 60-80 on them, probably averaging high 60s-low 70s which could be better, but I'm somewhat content with. About to take my first practice exam which I'm very scared to do, but at this point gotta just go for it!

    I spend some time going through notes and problem areas and whatnot, some of the time going through MC. I do 60-90 MCQ per day, in the form of Becker progress tests all chapters. Compared to a lot of other people it's not much, but I couldn't really imagine doing more than 90 a day. I think part of it is that progress tests take a little more out of me since I can't see answers right away and have to go through them again to see what I got wrong

    @determinedcpaer Thanks for your reply! TBH I'm a little fried from studying all day, so I'm gonna re-read and process your post sometime tomorrow but reading once thru did indeed help me to understand a bit better. Tomorrow I'll work to really understand it.

    @michelATL
    Based on what you're saying, your options are either to 1) Rush and take it at the scheduled date or 2) Give yourself an extra week to prepare. For option 2, it sounds like your main inhibitor is just the fact that you'd feel guilty for rescheduling and pushing it back?

    If you think you'd feel that much more comfortable taking an extra week then I would think it's a good idea. However, if you take that extra week, don't lose momentum and slack and relax because you feel you have extra time. Utilize the week fully with the same fire under your butt as if you would if you were to take the test on the scheduled date.

    Overall, do what's gonna make you feel best mentally and most prepared for the exam. You don't wanna take the test and then wait 1.5 months for the results and say “I wish I had just given myself an extra week,” because even if that week doesn't make a huge difference in terms of performance, maybe for your own peace of mind it's a big difference. But like I said, don't push it back just because you're scared or want to relax. Push it back if you think you'll 1) Have a better shot at passing and 2) You'll be able to say “I gave it my all and was as ready as I could be, whatever happens I gave it my best shot.”
