    Congrats @Ginja_CPA !

I had a similar situation I got a 73 in the last testing window (last section of the exam) and passed this time around with an 82!

I used Becker and a little bit of Ninja Audio + Wiley Testbank. I still can't believe I'm done!

I've been AWOL since my exam but I wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped with every dumb little question I asked.

Even though I'm now done with the exam, I'll try to return the favor 🙂

I wouldn't advise submitting for a score review it'll likely cause you more anxiety than anything else and ultimately end up with no net benefit.

It might take some time to get over your disappointment but the one thing you can't do is give up!

Take BEC as planned and retake AUD in January. Plan accordingly from there.

It took me about a week+ to get over the fact that I got a 73 on FAR (this was in September and this was the last section of the exam for me) – and then I was stressed as hell knowing that if I did not pass FAR by the end of November I would 1) lose credit on audit and 2) not have time to retake any section of the exam until the end of February/March while working full-time in public accounting.

Ultimately I found the resolve to refocus myself and retook far in the beginning of November. I got my score back today and passed – and now I've completed the exam.

    What's my point?

The disappointment you feel is real, it's genuinely heart-wrenching – but it'll only be the end of the road if you let it be. If there's a will there's a way. You can do this.

    Best of luck!

Well… Think I did worse than I did last time even though I had better grasp on the overall concepts… Just couldn't recall all the minute details in the alloted time … 🙁

    Good luck to everyone else!

I don't recommend using any resume builder website. Search google for “resume templates” or even “accounting resume templates” and you'll find lots of free templates / information.

Tailor what you find accordingly and remember that your resume should be unique and speak to yourself.

If you give me a generic resume it's going to get grouped in with the rest of the generic resumes I get.

Exam Wednesday… Probably just going to take it then (although something did just open up on the 14th :-P)… I didn't do too well on the first Becker Final Exam but got my practice multiple choice scores up a bit from a day or two ago…

Have you sat down and thought about what your long-term goals are? I think when most people stop and do this they realize they don't have fully formed goals yet – and that's perfectly understandable, but it's an exercise worth doing and I really think it'll help you decide what your best move is.

Have you considered going to a larger firm or are you content with the small / mid-size route? If you go to this other small firm who's to say that they won't be bought out / merge, etc. within the next few years?

    Just some food for thought…

If it's any consolation when I last took FAR in September I felt I did very well on the multiple-choice but was completely floored by the sims, other than the research that I know I got right I don't think I got 100% (or even 70%) of any other sim – and on the last one I just filled in numbers in hopes of partial credit since I didn't know what it was asking.

Managed to get a 73… So if you feel you did reasonable on the sims passing is definitely possible.

Can someone confirm if the below is correct (related to the sale of a trading security vs. sale of available-for-sale securitiy)?

    Trading Security:
    12/15 Purchased for $100
    12/31 Revalued to $120
    01/15 Sold for $150

    Sale = $150 – (100 + 20) = $30 realized G/L

    Available-for-Sale Security:
    12/15 Purchased for $100
    12/31 Revalued to $120
    01/15 Sold for $150

    Sale = $150 – $100 = $50 realized G/L (And then you'd also move unrealized G/L of $20 out of OCI to I/S)

Yeah I've actually passed audit twice and both times I studied for 1-2 weeks — it helps that I work in audit — so I'm pretty sure I can prepare for that in a minimum of 2 weeks.

I'll probably give myself more than that though and start studying a few days after I take FAR rather than waiting for my FAR score release

That's odd GiniC — Try Hamilton, NJ, I see availability in November and January – just wondering if you can see the availability as well or if it is something wrong with your connection.

They don't guarantee anything but they do help in getting your resume looked at. Part of the things with referrals is that they're only as good as the person giving the referral.

If you're a no-name Staff 1 who performed poorly who's giving a referral that's going to have a lot less value than someone who's worked at the firm for a few years and performed very well giving a referral…

Oh no you're correct — right now I'm studying for FAR, basically if I fail FAR – on November 30th I lose credit for Audit (time will lapse) – I believe once that happens I should be able to schedule an Audit retake since I didn't take Audit in this testing window!

Oh, I'm going to sit for the exam this testing window regardless — for a lot of different reasons I have no choice really (long story) :- P

One of the reasons why I didn't schedule for the end of the month though is that I lose a part (Audit) 11/30 – and I want to be able to squeeze in a re-take the first week of December if that's what it comes to…

My dilemma is really just how much more time I can take off from work and whether an extra 3-4 days will help (score cut-off is November 14th so I'm not going to push my exam past that date)…

Prometric will still show open seats if your NTS has expired —

    https://securereg3.prometric.com/professionalhome.aspx

You can go to the above link and there's a “Seat Availability Tool” so you don't even need a NTS to see what seats are open…

Debating whether to push my exam back… I have it scheduled for Wednesday…

My mini progress exam scores have been all over the place, 60%, 80%, 60%, 80%… Overall I'm averaging a 72% on homework and progress test questions which is better than the 65% I was getting the first time I took the exam…

Will probably spend some time memorizing details / formulas today and then make a decision early tomorrow…
