Hi MaLoTu, I guess I was impatient. Yesterday was a day filled with blessings. I found out that I am done with the exam and won every single game at our Christmas party. When I checked my e-mail, I had a message from the CPA firm (first choice). This morning I had a phone interview with them. Unfortunately, I had to decline all the wonderful opportunities coming my way. My current employer has not found my replacement yet (surprise, surprise- I just told them that I am leaving).

When I am 100% ready to look for another job, I will write the cover letter with that in mind (either Audit or Tax). I am definitely an Audit person, but I want to do tax as a side hustle. Thank you so much.

Pete, I am in almost the same situation. I can't get a job at a CPA firm, but there are lots of accounting jobs where I live. I want to work for a small/medium sized firm to be a well-rounded CPA. But, none of them wants to hire me as a Tax Associate or an Audit Associate. I have applied at several CPA firms for an Internship- have not heard from any of them. It is frustrating that they always ask if you know someone who works there. Of course I don't, all of my friends and relatives are nurses lol. Mind you, I have an MSA, 17 years of accounting experience, and hopefully passed all 4 sections of the CPA exam (will find out tomorrow, CA is so slow). I am beginning to think that I am probably too old (38). If I don't get anything by March, I would just find a company where a CPA could sign me off.

The first time I took BEC my computer froze, I failed that one. I retook it on 11/30 and same thing happened. Now I am thinking I failed again, but I am hoping for good news tomorrow. I know how you feel though regarding COSO and IT, I had a question about bandwidth and I don't even remember the instructor (WILEY) mentioning it lol. I knew what it was, but then the question was asked in a way that my brain could not think straight. It was about security of the network. On my second attempt, I studied COSO and IT to the point that I have memorized them according to WILEY. I got to the testing center and the only thing I remember was guessing on what is the right terminology for something something with “access.” Anyway, hang in there, don't quit coz I myself will keep trying.

Puppykoala, I never prayed so much in my entire life until I had to sit for these exams. I feel I have developed an anxiety, but I still like to torture myself though. I am waiting for both- could be a double victory or double failure. I have a feeling it's the latter. Oh well, there is no turning back now.

JFKGY, when did you pass the exam? that's amazing, regardless. I passed FAR and AUD just by watching Wiley videos. I failed BEC doing tons of MCQs and watching videos. I spent way more hours for BEC than FAR and AUD combined. But then, I did not have my fur baby on my lap or table while studying for BEC–gone too soon. I will supplement with NINJA the 2nd time around.

BEC 70…I thought I did enough to pass. I am moving on to REG. I am still smiling at work even though I want to smash my keyboard. My coworkers tried to comfort me by saying “it's not life threatening, you should not play Candy Crush anymore, first failure is always painful.” I just laughed, but deep inside they are right…it's painful.

Recked, I'd rather have sweaty feet even if I can't wear heels- birkenstocks are perfect. The injections hurt a lot. I had to hold my breath to manage. The upside is I learned to hold my breath longer, which is very useful when I am at the Prometric center. Now I know that surgery works (lucky/blessed Caritus14), I am considering to go that route.
