Agree with above^ There are a shortage of public accountants in Houston. Someone with your experience would probably fit well with the big firms or midsize. Also not sure your exact role but internal audit may be a good fit. I'd say not giving up. There's peak times when firms hire. Normally after deadlines once the turnover begins.

Passed and failed numerous others back in 2016-2017.... dropped out after having a kid, decided I needed to get this finished. Passed AUD then found out we were having our second child.

AHHHHHHGGGGG!!!! This whole waiting a month and carrying on with life is teasing me. I've gotten back into my family/work/workout routine with the possibility of having to go back into the study prison. Would be my luck though if I fail the one test that involves with what I do for a living. Hopefully I made them feel guilty in my post test comments saying I need to get back to my kids! 😀

Agreed. First time I took my exams back in 2016-2017 i would go back and change answers. BAD IDEA. Wastes a lot of time for SIMs and “More-likely-than-not” you will get them wrong. Only obvious mistakes like seeing a “Not” in the question when you didn't before. NOW, when it comes to the SIMs always go back and reread the question after you start answering. I almost lost a full SIM to not seeing a sentence in the instructions. Thankfully I went back and reread before I moved on. On MCQs just answer it best guess and move on.

Waiting sucks, the false feeling of me posting my bail on this hellish imprisonment of studying that has affected my life for so long has me dreading the release date more and more. Now that I have taken my final test I can only wait for what feels like another pass/fail test experience. Usually I can soak my sorrows in the next section but now I get to face the cruelty of a normal life for 3 weeks. Call it a vacation… I'll call it pure bliss. I'm going into a full vegetative nostalgia only to be awoken by the occasional nightmare of not passing and losing all credits. I want a divorce from Tim Gearty, my faithful Becker partner this last year. Hopefully we all get what we want come late November. My luck I'll pass then get hit by a car later that day.

Study study study Individual taxation (all of it). Always a SIM it seems on it. Know partner basis changes. Blaw/Ethics feels like Govt accounting in FAR on the exam…. basically it feels like it is half the MCQs.

Taking the exam Monday… Passed it back years ago but I'm sure much has changed. Hopefully there is not too much QBI deductions on it.

I am also taking Reg but Monday. I would def study individual, partner basis, corp, scorp taxation for SIMs. Blaw/Ethics hit mainly MCQs in my past experience. Honestly Becker makes it harder than it really is. The actual exam just makes you feel like you failed when you walk out I think because of the toss out questions. I look for that one SIM that seems ridiculously hard and just try to take a best guess and move on. It's worked 3/3 this year testing. Last time I tried taking these 2 years ago I used Wiley…. Becker seems to have helped.

I bombed Audit 3 times before I passed. First two I didn't put the full effort in. It takes full effort and being able to find the “trigger” words to really get the questions right. Also know the audit reports. Just re read them again and again until you feel comfortable. Audit is the only test I struggled on. I like to say you have either more of a conceptual mind or a operational mind. Also you need to put full effort in. Half effort will get you half the score. Been there done that and now about to take my final one at 30 with 2 kids… don't be like me.

Passed FAR with 82. Test day I know I bombed MCQ1 and probably did a little better on medium MCQ2s. SIMS I crushed so that is what got me an 82. I imagine I got 50-60% on MCQs and 80-90% on SIMs. Thought I would only pass with 75. Congrats to everyone who passed. Those who failed, keep going. Many of us have failed time and time again. Brush it off and go again. You WILL get this.

Well I took it this last Monday and well….. I felt the exact same…. I realized when I took the test how much I had forgot… The good thing is now I know how to review if I find out if I failed. The questions were much easier than I had anticipated…. Saying that I still think I did poorly because of the mile wide of “easier” conceptual information I had forgotten. I did better at the math problems (Leases, Bonds, ect.) but felt like I was getting DESTROYED on the abundance of NFP/Govt on the MCQs. The sims however it felt better. Again… much easier than I anticipated BUT mile wide. I use Becker… Becker wasted a bunch of my time learning the what ifs that could go into the questions that just didn't seem to show up on test day. Just don't information overload right before the test. Your brain will get bogged down.

I feel like the consolidations are the throw outs…. I don't know for sure but they were the hardest SIMs for me and almost felt impossible to get right. The others were much more manageable. Knowing the basic journal entries in FAR and the basic conceptual concepts seem to be what I saw. Honestly I felt like I did better on the SIMs than the MCQs…. the MCQs in becker are WAY harder than the actual test…. like people say “mile wide, inch deep”. I almost feel like Becker picks up all the throw out questions and tosses them into their test banks. Honestly next time around I am going for the basic SIMs in Becker… I feel like those are more realistic to what I saw.

I feel you on being discouraged. Out of college I attempted to take the exams and failed audit 2 or 3 times and BEC once before finally passing BEC only to get married and fall off the wagon of studying… then lost the credit later down the road. My second round I passed BEC and REG then found out my wife was pregnant and again fell out of studying eventually losing both. Around November or December last year I decided to bite the bullet and make it a goal to finish in 2019. I took Aud and passed in Jan, THEN FOUND OUT MY WIFE IS PREGNANT AGAIN!!! But this time I said there is no way I'm stopping. Took BEC in March and passed while my wife was going through pregnancy. Started studying FAR and had to push the date from July to September because I was not ready and my second kid was born in August. I just took FAR yesterday…. pretty sure I failed… but I feel that way every test. Point is don't let circumstances get you down. You think life will get easier, it only gets filled with more responsibility…. but oddly enough you adapt to it. Count those passes as one less test to pass. Knock em out. Don't have kids until you do 😉 !!!!!!
