The eyeball trick is working in CO! Credit for REG thank the Lord!
WingdingsParticipantTHis was definitely a weird attempt! Let's hope it was a crazy experiment and we all pass! Good luck!
WingdingsParticipantThis could be it! Good luck to everyone!
WingdingsParticipantExam same experience as everyone here. I've taken REG 3 times now. 1st attempt was in November, 2nd in January, and 3rd this weekend. The first 2 attempts were identical very easy MCQs (received a Stronger rating in MCQs both failures) and SIMS were a nightmare. This go around I had to look in the top left corner of the screen to make sure that prometric had signed me in for the correct exam section. This attempt was 100% different than any of my prior attempts. Basically it was as broad as the study material, no theme, no predictablility, just a question or 2 from each blueprint area and heavy testing of thresholds and phase outs. The only reason I'm part way confident that I could have passed this attempt is becasue the SIMS, with the exception of the first 2, were all relatively doable. The guidance helped a TON to complete each question and I felt that I could have gotten 100% on the last 6 SIMS and maybe 50/50 on the first 2. But there again, the MCQs were a nightmare so who knows! Good luck to all!
WingdingsParticipantCAN'T WAIT! Feels like this could be it!
WingdingsParticipantKristen,
It sounds like you and I had nearly identical experiences.
I had corona the week prior to the exam and had the mushy/foggy brain.
The MCQs were fairly straight forward and I felt I flagged about the same amount as you. Similarly on the second testlet I felt they didn't necssarily increase in dificulty but defintely in ambiguity. If I were to score myself on strictly MCQs I'd say I got an 80.
TBS are where things went downhill, fast! The first TBS testlet was reasonably easy and surprisingly short. After the break I had the second testelet and research question. I know I nailed the research question, but the other two questions in the testlet were heavy on tax basis/calculations and being that I am in no way a ‘tax guy' I just gave them a shot and moved on. The final TBS testlet was where it all fell apart. I had two nearly identical questions of extrodanary length and detail (kind of a DRS/Calcualtion hybrid). Being that they were almost identical in format likely means one was the pretest. The bad part is that I guessed almost 100% on both. The final question was a total softball related to proceeds from sale of securites. I got home and immediatley looked up whether I had calculated these correctly and sadly I can say I got that question completely wrong.
So, similar to your experience MCQ's no problem, TBS testlets 1&2 somewhat managable, TBS testlet 3 absolute disaster.
Praying for a miracle! Best of luck!
WingdingsParticipantWingdingsParticipantGnidal I can relate! Although it's not my final exam the wait seems to be dragging on forever! I'm hoping they release friday like they did a few windows ago!
WingdingsParticipantHey Jeff, Isn't the release actually Feb 25? Hoping for an early release as always though!
WingdingsParticipantNot sure if it's helpful but on my second FAR attempt I did ok on MCQs then had a total meltdown on SIMs I finished (very poorly) 5/8 SIMs and ended up leaving 3 entirley blank and I got a 66. On another attempt I felt I had crushed the MCQs and felt slightly better on the SIMs but still left one entirely blank and rushed through another and got a 73. If your only hiccup was on one SIM I doubt it will be a make or break! 🙂
WingdingsParticipantThat seems perfectly reasonable! It may even be slightly better compared to the salaried equivalent at times ($50k ish). I work at a similar sized firm in a similar sized town and associates genearlly start at $55k. The benefit of being salaried is PTO, whereas your time off is money lost. The other side of that is you get time and a half when you work over 40hrs in a week (most states I think) So it likely balances out. I'd expect a 3-10% increase in pay the first year and each year after. Generally firms do not give a raise for being licensed, sometimes an ok bonus but rarely if ever a raise. The saying goes “You don't get a raise when you get your CPA, you get a raise when you get your CPA and leave public.”
WingdingsParticipantHamcpa2018 – OH NO! I can't imagine that build up and let down!
Future CPA – I agree! Especially the motivation to study part, it's impossible to focus with a looming score release!
WingdingsParticipantThis is perfect! Thank you so much!
