@Tugga, it was rough, to say the least. But I was very determined because I got so sick of not having ANY social life. Originally, I went back for my bachelor’s in 2014, finished that in 3 years (1 year of credits got transferred from a previous university that I attended about 10 years ago at that time). Then I did online master’s program in 10 months while starting my first accounting job in public accounting – took classes during off season. I graduated in June 2019 and started studying for my first CPA exam, FAR, in mid June to take it on July 29th. My last exam was on December 2, 2019.

I’m not trying to brag but want to encourage those who want to get the CPA done ASAP. It’s possible, but be ready not to have any social life (it was only the CPA and work for me). I’m single with no kids, so I think that helped me. I feel like it’s also important to listen to yourself as you plan your studying schedule. Listen to what’s more important to YOU. Some people called me crazy when I told them my plans. I told friends “no” to going out every time they asked me. I feel like this journey showed me who my true friends were (those who were willing to wait and didn’t get upset with me that I couldn’t come). I knew I had to be 100% focused on studying because even one day of going out would affect my studying schedule not only on that day but probably the next day (I’m not super young anymore, so I need a day off after I go out 😃). I also planned on studying every day during the week (planned my time off only in between sections). Some people said it was wrong and I needed a day off. I agree that it gets really tiring. However, I instead allowed myself to take an evening off here and there when I felt I needed it instead of just scheduling a night off every week. It worked well for me. Again, just listen to yourself and your body.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, willing to share how I studied and etc. I had to slightly adjust my study plan for every section as I found every section to have a different challenge.

P.S. I haven’t had a true vacation in the last 5 years and I also didn’t want to be taking the test for years. I really wanted this to be done and over with, so I could have my social life back. This was my motivation, which truly helped me through some difficult times. Find something that would motivate you and go for it. YOU can do it.

If you focus only on your work and studies, it’s totally doable! I just passed my last section and passed all 4 parts in 5.5 months while working full-time at a public accounting firm. I had a hard time focusing while waiting for my score though. It was like an emotional roller coaster :(. My longest waiting period was a month. I took FAR and AUD in one quarter and BEC and REG in a second quarter. I also had about 5 weeks of not studying built-in in the 5.5 months period (for rest and due to a busy time at work). Good luck!!!

I didn’t have much experience with tax when I first started studying. I spent a total of 5 weeks. However, the first 3 were a shit-show (Due to longer hours at work. I still followed my schedule studying for about 35 hours a week, but these weren’t quality hours) and the last 2 weeks involved full-time studying (took time off from work). Surprisingly, Wiley has less material for REG than for BEC and most tax material is in the second half of the course, which I believe helped me because I wasn’t absorbing much during the first 3 weeks of studying. BTW, I finished the course in 4 weeks and the 5th week was just for a review.

@Anna, unfortunately, it sounds like you didn’t pass. The score report doesn’t have to be from the same quarter 🙁

@docj, it’s on NASBA portal. If you’ve taken a section before AND your score report is still available, just open the report and you will see the “credit/no credit.”

@Lukems0614, I don’t think it’s a sign that you failed. I didn’t fail any of the exams and I still always had the appeal option. Even now, I still have it for BEC score.

@fgd720, I see a “credit” in my score report that I still have from taking BEC. SO, I don’t see an actual REG score yet, only that it’s “credit.”

I’m waiting for REG score. I didn’t feel great taking the test, but I hope I passed. I don’t want to think about studying basis again…I’m taking a small break before the busy season starts. Although I still feel stressed. It’s nice not to listen to Ninja audio anymore, but the work has been busy, so I can’t fully relax. During the limited free time that I have, I’m just mostly running errands (trying to get things done that I’ve been putting off due to exam). I can’t wait to feel like I fully have my freedom back. Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations! I’m so happy for you! I had a very similar experience as you did, so you gave hope I could still get a passing score.
