He could have been relieved that you didn't ask for me, because the potentially couldn't pay more. If you'd asked for $95,000-$100,000 they might have decided they could find someone for around what they wanted to pay.
Like bhunt815 said, you said what you thought was fair, you weren't greedy, and you negotiated for that amount. It could have been a completely different conversation if you had asked for more. You can always get another raise in the future, so I don't think you shot yourself in the foot! Congratulations!

FAR: ?Ginja_CPAParticipantI'd move BEC up a earlier, that way you can potentially have 5-7 weeks for AUD. For BEC I studied 5 weeks, AUD I studied 6-6.5 weeks. With you already having 4 weeks with BEC, I'd look at the end of January, first week of February to take it.

If you take AUD in April, you have to wait until July before you can retake AUD if you didn't pass. You could, if you wanted, take all four exams in one window though.

FAR: ?Ginja_CPAParticipantMy boss encouraged me to put CPA after I passed, this was mostly to add credibility because I am in a niche and the only CPA we had was our owner. Plus, putting CPA seems to be the easiest way to remind myself that I don't have to do that crap ever again!

FAR: ?Ginja_CPAParticipantIf you dedicate to a date, don't change it. Otherwise you'll find a different excuse to not do it. Take the entire week off before the exam to do an extensive cram. Heck, look into Roger cram course, he does an amazing job, in my opinion, of condensing the material to the bare needed to pass. I wouldn't waste vacation time studying, unless your exam is in a few days. 4 hours a day is alright, but in the short window, double that if you can. Even if that means you study for 4 hours in the morning, do something for an hour or 2, then another 4 hours.
Your statement about not taking the exam if their isn't hope of passing is the negative outlook you should avoid. If your goal is 2 months, do it. Take the hit for a bit, lose your life for a bit, sacrifice everything you can in order to pass. The cram courses from Roger are, I think, at most 18 hours. That is for FAR. BEC is about half of that I believe.

FAR: ?Ginja_CPAParticipantIt is possible, you aren't married, no kids, flexible job. How much PTO do you have? Can you devote the prior 3 days completely to studying and reviewing without having to work? Can you work 40 hours a week, study during the week another 35, then study over the weekends another 16-20? I think if you do that, 2 weeks is possible per section. I wouldn't even bother checking scores, you'll lose motivation if you failed. Listen to audio every waking moment that you aren't doing MCQ. If you are working out, bring flashcards if you need a break from audio and are using a treadmill or something. Make your own flashcards, put the information into your own words.
This isn't a healthy route in my opinion, but it isn't a long term thing either.
It is useful having those that pass here as we can give encouragement, plus advice on what we did. If everyone that passed never again replied to this site, mla11692 is one person that provides a TON of support and encouragement and she passed in 2012, this could be a very different forum. Amor D is another example of a great contributor, check out some of her old posts, great mnemonics!
Here is an example of one that I saw:

FAR: ?Ginja_CPAParticipantYou will see overlap in EVERY test bank. The difference, I feel, is in the explanations. Jeff does a very good job of explaining the answers, where the other ones I had used, didn't.
With the price being $47 for 3 months, you can't beat it. Sure, there are better prices out there for Wiley, but it costs more for the full year. If you don't need it for a full year, it isn't worth it. Buy the test bank for 1 section, if you don't like it, hey, it is cheap. If it helps you get a 75, instead of a 74, that $47 is the most valuable investment you could have made.
Good luck!

FAR: ?Ginja_CPAParticipantYour score is not a raw score, that much is easily understood and agreed upon, I hope. The questions are not all worth the same point, again, this is easily understood and agreed upon. The fact that “you did very well in all mcq but 1-3” could easily mean that the more difficult were worth a larger percentage, and the easier ones that you couldn't miss were worth next to nothing. You could do outstanding in the mcq, and comparable in the simulations, and barely squeak by.

FAR: ?December 21, 2016 at 2:44 pm in reply to: Getting and NTS now and using it for the New CPA? #1398095Ginja_CPAParticipantThat would depend on how long your NTS is good for, some are only good for 3 months, while others are good for a year. You should check and make sure of how long yours is good for.

FAR: ?Ginja_CPAParticipantDo you have the Ninja MCQ? If not, buy them, only $47 for 3 months of access. Read the explanations over why you got a question wrong, or if you guessed, even if you got it right, sometimes you got it right with the wrong logic. Hammer out those, and reread all of the sections you are struggling with.
If you don't have the Ninja Audio, buy it, I can't remember the price now, but listen to it while you're driving, running, working, whenever you can. Relisten to them a ton of times, even if you don't think that you are absorbing the information, you will somewhat.
Good luck!
