I used Gleim and passed all my exams on the first try. I also felt a little discouraged the first few times I would take the quizzes, so to boost my confidence while taking quizzes I would go back through the chapter and my notes to verify and make sure I would get the correct answers on the quizzes. I know it may seem counter intuitive, but seeing the 50%, 45%, 60% grades on the quizzes really messed with my head. Using my strategy I started seeing my quizzes going from the 85-100% range and at least convinced myself I knew what I was doing.

This strategy may not work for you, but I just couldn't handle the constant negative.

For us it ended busy season, and put us in some sort of purgatory of never ending taxes but with no urgency to complete them.

I can only speak about Gleim, but they cut off your online access 30 days after passing the final exam. And they original books you receive would be outdated so they wouldn't be much help anyways. I exclusively studied online due to ease and so that I knew the material were most up to date.

First, based on your academic record and GMAT score I wouldn't think you'd have trouble getting into a top program.

But I might reconsider and go for a MBA. I went the MAcc route as well, but that was before I had taken any of the CPA tests. I think you'll find that much of the MAcc and CPA material is redundant, and aimed at preparing you for the CPA. I've always thought/been told that the CPA trumps the MAcc which is why many partners don't have one. The MBA would give you more of an insight into finance and management that can be enhanced by your accounting knowledge.

For me I found pensions incredibly difficult, and impossible to understand. So eventually I just decided to try and memorize the terms, but pass on the actual calculations. It worked out for me, but unfortunately its kind of luck of the draw. If you skipped the section entirely you'll probably get stuck with TBS over it and it'll kill you. But if you're in a crunch skip that section.

Personally I just used the study materials for the CPA. I felt the CPA materials directly prepared you for the exam, but supplementary studying by the textbook can’t hurt. I just wouldn’t expect the textbook to prepare you for questions on the exam.
