Hi WIP! I have done the single parent thing and throwing travel into the mix does not make that easier. Government accounting has its own trajectory. There is so much opportunity in that field. Your state will have certifications in govt finance – find them and see if your employer will help with cost. Other municipalities around you will have jobs open up and having the certifications will make you very competitive. My take is that PWC will not care that you have a child who needs you but if you have the support from family to do it for a couple years this may help your career in private in the long run. Be sure to be home before your child is a teen although now is the time to find the activities that will keep him/her engaged and out of trouble during those really trying years. Good luck!🍀

It means that NASBA completed its review but the Colorado Board has the final approval. You can check the CO Board's website for their next meeting date. If it is 4-6 weeks out your application will probably get a decision at that meeting. If NASBA didn't request more documentation chances are good that you will be approved. Good luck!

I returned to school in 2013-14 for a second undergrad in accounting. Afterward, I passed all of the exams first try, using Ninja book and MCQs, in 2016. I have held several jobs: a business auditor for a county government, in tax in several public accounting firms on a seasonal basis, a system accountant for a boutique hotel chain, then for a law firm where I specialize in estate, trust and individual tax. While working for the law firm I finally completed the experience I needed for a license in 2020. I still work there part-time during the season and ad-hoc the rest of the year working on divorce and civil cases with the attorneys. In October 2021 I accepted a job as an accountant for the federal government and am now responsible for the monthly and year-end close for several federal agencies. Accounting is my second career and I love it. I had prior federal service so I earn enough leave to travel frequently for long weekends and extended trips and will be able to retire again in 5 years. Life is good! Another71 has been a big part of my journey and I am grateful to Jeff and my crew on the forum from 2014 to 2016 who kept me going through all 4 exams. Those were good times!

in reply to: How to study for REG #3326149

I started with NINJA MCQs for REG and used Ninja book as a supplement along with college text books. Basis was the worst so I had to keep at it. Bus Law is a huge study section so I incorporated into other sections I was studying to get through it without “forgetting” the other sections. I used Ninja for all of my sections and passed each first try by doing MCQs till I trended 100. Doing ALL of the SIMs and studying all of the answers to make sure I knew why one was correct and the others were wrong. Study to make a 100 not just pass. Set a goal of no retakes. Work every problem to know the calcs. Study to learn not memorize. During the exam you want to achieve the highest score you can on the MCQs to carry any flaws in your sims. While waiting for a score I continued to review just in case. I studied every day and all day weekends. It was all that I did for 10 months other than work. It was worth every minute and I enjoyed it very much. Good luck!🍀 You can do this. Look forward. Not back.

I want to add: You probably 30 hours of upper division accounting. Any course above the 200/2000 level would be considered upper division. Talk to Florida before you do anything.

Finding a state to sit for exams is one thing. Where you work and need to be licensed is the bigger thing. Make sure you understand Florida's licensing requirements before you make a choice. To emphasize, make sure you understand Florida's initial license requirements and the reciprocity requirements to determine for which state you will not only take exams but also get your initial license. If you decide not to sit as a Florida candidate you will first need a state that does not require residency and if/when scores expire. Then you will have to decide to which state you apply for your initial license. If that is not Florida you will have to make sure that Florida will issue you a license based on licensure by that other state. These can be different states. For example, I sat as a NC candidate, transferred scores to MT for my initial license then applied to CO, where I live and work but did not meet its specific education requirements, and was granted a license through reciprocity. I no longer have to maintain my MT license because I do not work there but choose to do so.

I am a fed accountant who works with budget analysts and they do seem very busy. I don’t think it is difficult work once you learn the funds and systems. Pay is good. Benefits are great.

Send the corrected affidavit and explain the error in the first one. They may process your first before the update so if they deny your license follow up again and make sure they see the correction. What state?
