Thanks for all of the comments. I appreciate everyone's advice. @JFKGY, you really hit the nail on the head. Before I accepted this position, I was really dissatisfied with my current position even though it paid a decent salary. I have around 16 years of experience and I kept telling myself for the last 12 months that the next position I get, I want a 20% increase in salary given my experience level. By the time this offer actually came, I didn't ask for that 20% increase because I had read reviews on Glassdoor about the company and their pay structure, and thought that if asked for too much, they would go with another candidate especially since there are a lot of people unemployed due to COVID-19. And I didn't want to pass it up because it is my dream job. Over the last few weeks, I guess I let a negative thought hit my mind and I let it fester and I started to feel like maybe I didn't fight hard enough to get more money but as all of you have stated and as my wife has been trying to tell me for the last few weeks, you got the job you wanted at a decent salary and you are up for a performance review on July 1st to determine if get a raise, so at this point, I need to stop thinking negatively and start being grateful that I got the job and that I'm leaving my current employer.

@Chris I wanted to obtain the CGMA back when they gave it away if you were already a licensed CPA, but I missed the deadline. Now they have all of these hoops and a case study for something that a few years ago, they just handed to people. Even if I would have gotten the CGMA before the AICPA required a test, I would have still pursued the CMA exam. I think that the AICPA wants to use the CGMA to compete with the CMA certification because the CMA is gaining some popularity. I'm not knocking the CGMA, if someone has the credential, it's great to have but for me, I just can't see myself paying for it.

@Anthony I used Gleim to barely pass Part 1. I failed Part 2 with Gleim. I switched to Wiley for Part 2. I passed Part 2 with a 360 using Wiley but if I had not taken my Part 2 retake during the extended tax season and I could have put in a little more time and probably scored a 475 with Wiley. I put in a ton of hours with Gleim on Part 1 and barely passed. Gleim skips a lot of steps and assumes that you know a lot of the information. Wiley takes their time and goes over everything to make sure you understand. I would recommend Wiley. The mobile app, lectures and flash cards are amazing.

Congrats @Phil! Thanks @Jjjgolf500! For me I was so tired from studying for the CPA exams that the CMA exams kicked my butt. The CMA is not as hard as the CPA but don't underestimate it.

Thanks @Mtaylo24. I was just telling my wife how we started studying for the CMA exam at around the same time. Definitely have appreciated your encouragement during this process. So glad that we're both CPAs and CMAs.

Yes, I made it to essay portion for Part 2 last summer and still failed. The crazy part was that on my performance report, it stated that I aced the essay questions. I think even though you get 50 or more right on the MCQs and move on the essays, what it ultimately boils down to, is how well everyone else did on the MCQs and then the exam is graded down from there.

Yes, I passed FAR and AUD on the first try. I was working in public accounting and I was doing most of the things tested on the exam on a daily basis so it was easier to absorb the material. I took BEC twice and REG three times.

I am waiting on my score as well. I took part 2 last year on June 30, 2018 and missed it by 10 points. I retook it on October 31, 2019. Scores are two weeks away. I'm hoping that I got a 360 or better. I'm so ready to get this test/certification behind me. I refuse to take Part 2 for a third time.

@Pop, from what you described above, you would only be getting an extra $10,000 to work 60 – 70 during busy season. Is the extra $10,000 worth it? Can you talk with your supervisor about a raise or a promotion? Any amount above $75,000 to work the same schedule, you're working is a huge win.

I started this post about 13 months ago and I still feel the same way. As I prepare to retake Part 2 of the CMA Exam on 10/31/19, 16 months after I failed Part 2 the first go around by only 10 points, I can't help but agree with my past self and everyone else that commented on this thread. The Ninja CMA Review is desperately needed. No harm to Gleim and Wiley but they both are lacking. I'm currently using both because Gleim's MCQs are great, but their lectures are boring, and they don't break down the information enough. On the other hand, Wiley's lectures are amazing but their MCQs are lacking. Gleim has audio lectures that you can listen to on the go (very boring though) and Wiley does not. Wiley does offer flash cards but Gleim does not. So, I needed both for my second attempt at Part 2 and I'm still not feeling very confident. I needed a product that offers everything. Audio Lectures (Informative but entertaining), MCQs, Flash Cards and Textbook. Only one review provider can come close and that's Ninja CMA Review. Hopefully, I'll past this second time around but if not, Jeff I'm going to need your CMA Prep. Hiya! 🙂
