For SIMS, I don't know how it looks like right now but when I took mine I could flip over the SIMS and I could see all the SIMS. Then I did the easiest SIMS first and worked my way to the hardest one and I used the provided literature as much as possible. Good luck!

I think instead of just watching, you need to start taking notes. I passed AUD after I used NinjaBook. So if I were you, I would use Ninja book, notes, and audio and start taking notes and write them down on paper so you remember them better. Then you need to smash and hammer Ninja MCQs. Do a set of 30 questions for chapter 1 until you get comfortable with chapter 1. Then after you finish chapter 2, do a set of 30 questions include chapter 1 and 2. Add more chapter as you go so you don't forget what you learn from chapter 2. And just do a lot of MCQs and write down why you miss a question. Good luck!

Ohio issues CPA license on the 15th of each month. So you'd be likely get your license issued on November 15th.

I think your original plan sounds good. Take AUD in April and BEC in June. Get the easy ones out of the way and boost your confidence. Then you have two attempts for FAR in September and December before your REG expires. It's all or nothing.

I wouldn't take 30k+ pay cut either. Why can't you stay at your private company and ask for more money after you get your CPA? Or get a similar job at a different private company with a better pay after you get your CPA.

Make sure you get and understand all easy questions for easy points. I know there are some people who put a lot of effort and time into the hard stuff in FAR and those questions don't show up or they miss the easy questions and points because they focus too much on the hard stuff.

    Good luck!

Your Ninja Sniper should be enough to pass REG. I failed AUD 4 times before I switched to Ninja materials and started passing the exams.

If you have the money, I would take some time off from work and go travel for some time. You're still young and you can always work later. After I passed my exams, I took couple months off from work before I wanted to start in public accounting. After traveling, I came back home and got my license. Many recruiters tried to set me up for jobs but I declined because I wanted to get into public accounting. So I don't think you will find any troubles finding a new job either in public or private because you have your license and big 4 experience.

And to answer your question, I think Nashville is a good place to move to.

I would do more research about how much CPAs with less than 2 years experience make in your area. Then present that to your boss and ask for a raise. If you don't get a raise, you should start looking for another firm. Busy season is just around the corner.

To your question, I have been out of college for 5 years and I just started in public accounting at a small local firm in an affordable city in midwest. I did my research that a 50k salary in my city should equivalent to 64k in Chicago if I want to keep stamdard of living the same. I'm in the audit team and am currently making 52k. I'm happy as I just started less than a month ago.

CPA license opened up opportunities for me. I got a new job shortly after I got my license. My compensation went up by 58%! I say you just need to find an employer who appreciates your accomplishment. If your boss doesn't like you for a being CPA, then I wouldn't want to work for him. Your life will not be happy.

I would do what Son said. And yesterday, I received an email from BDO recruiter for a phone interview for a tax position in Ohio office. I applied for the tax position online about three weeks ago. I did not have any tax internships nor tax job before but recently I got my CPA. So yes, it is possible to get into public accounting without campus recruiting. Public accounting firms still do hire non-experienced staff if you look hard enough. I turned down the phone interview because I just accepted a position in audit for a local firm and I also prefer audit than tax. I hope you get this tax analyst position though. Good luck!

Yes, there are research questions for FAR. I think when you do a practice exam, the course will just take a bunch of random Sims without knowing whether there is a research sim included or not. It happened when I did a practice exam with Ninja.
