Maybe you could write her an engagement letter and see whether she accepts or rejects your engagement to escalate.

BEC - 80ragepsn29ParticipantIf you have the money, I would take some time off from work and go travel for some time. You're still young and you can always work later. After I passed my exams, I took couple months off from work before I wanted to start in public accounting. After traveling, I came back home and got my license. Many recruiters tried to set me up for jobs but I declined because I wanted to get into public accounting. So I don't think you will find any troubles finding a new job either in public or private because you have your license and big 4 experience.
And to answer your question, I think Nashville is a good place to move to.

Then present that to your boss and ask for a raise. If you don't get a raise, you should start looking for another firm. Busy season is just around the corner.
To your question, I have been out of college for 5 years and I just started in public accounting at a small local firm in an affordable city in midwest. I did my research that a 50k salary in my city should equivalent to 64k in Chicago if I want to keep stamdard of living the same. I'm in the audit team and am currently making 52k. I'm happy as I just started less than a month ago.

I say you just need to find an employer who appreciates your accomplishment. If your boss doesn't like you for a being CPA, then I wouldn't want to work for him. Your life will not be happy.

And yesterday, I received an email from BDO recruiter for a phone interview for a tax position in Ohio office. I applied for the tax position online about three weeks ago. I did not have any tax internships nor tax job before but recently I got my CPA. So yes, it is possible to get into public accounting without campus recruiting. Public accounting firms still do hire non-experienced staff if you look hard enough. I turned down the phone interview because I just accepted a position in audit for a local firm and I also prefer audit than tax. I hope you get this tax analyst position though. Good luck!
