Texas has something similar, but they don't really offer the three options NY does. Here it's generally 150 hrs minimum with I believe its 30 or 36 hours of upper level accounting (most of which are in person) and an accounting ethics course (it can be master's or bachelor's level) to be eligible to sit for the exam. I don't know if things have changed in the last couple of years, but that's what I had to meet to be eligible.

I would operate under the presumption that if the NY state board allowed you to begin sitting for the exams, they accepted the classes as submitted. I don't know what they expiration time for NY would be, but in Texas you have 18 months to finish all four parts. NASBA shouldn't revoke your credit if you passed a part.

The best way to see what qualifies is to reach out to your state board and submit your transcripts. They'll evaluate the courses and tell you what qualifies and if you're cleared for the exams. I'm assuming you're applying in NY as well, their general contact info and main line is:

There are certain JuCos in Texas that are partnered with TSBPA to provide in-person classes to help people going the non-traditional (i.e. not accounting bachelor's) students complete the required coursework. It sounds like you're going with option 3 for the NY requirements, so I think the biggest obstacles are making sure the 33 upper level hours of accounting are complete.

    NY Eligibility Per NASBA

I don't see an in-person requirement off the bat, but there may be some details I didn't find. If you just need the accounting classes, you may be able to take them at a local campus or online to finish the requirements.

    Hope this helps.

I think their main number is (800-272-3926). You may want to give them a call and see if they can help you get logged back in. The site isn't undergoing maintenance, so this is likely your best route.

    Hi All,

I'm stepping back in to the Reg after getting a 66 on the first go-round and am working on trying to figure out what changes have come down for 2019. I'm shooting for end or February for round two.
