hey @micalda1 – though my MCQ experience wasn't quite like yours, I have to agree on the SIMs. I went in to them at the 2 hour mark and thought I would be fine. I found it most frustrating that I didn't know what sort of SIMs were waiting for me in the T4 and 5 and how to allocate my time. What if my last 3 SIMs were DRS and I didn't leave enough time for those? I scrambled all over T5 and just my overall SIMs experience bummed me out. SIMs were my downfall last time too, like you. The scoring on this is going to be realllllll interesting.

But going back to MCQ – I wasted hardly any time there. I went as quick as I could and I didn't sit and ponder any extra time. The fact I was still crunched for time on SIMs is super frustrating. I just couldn't have gone any faster.

I'm surprised more people aren't chiming in here. Took REG last week and 2 hours for TBS was not enough. I didn't feel like I could have flown through MCQs any faster. What's really hard about TBS's now is not knowing what's in T4 and T5 and how to manage time. I put myself in a tough spot by spending too much time in T3 and T4 and scrambled in T5. I could have used at least another 15 mins. AT LEAST.

I've taken REG so many times, I usually finish right on time. Extra time to dabble in the AL for any lingering uncertainties. No way on the new format. Every TBS is overly involved – at least mine were.

    Hi all –
Took REG on Friday. I have to say the change in exam was not a big deal with 1 exception.

SIMs are in 3 testlets as you've heard – 2-3-3. I went into SIMs with about 2 hours left, and all of mine were pretty involved, resource tab and DRS and the like. What was hard to do was manage time with the testlets broken up. What sorta SIMs were in T4 and T5? Were they beefy? How much time should I dabble in the AL on this itty bitty detail before I move on? Well, I dragged butt a bit too long and got rushed in T5 and that was a bummer.

I'll report back in August but I have to say – I got a tutor and he drilled entity tax with me and it was more than worth it. Hopefully that got me over the hump. Ignorance is bliss until then.

    Hi friends –
REG is tomorrow at 12:30, and as long as I don't eff it up, it will be my final exam. Well, it was supposed to be my final last time I took it too, fml. 5th attempt. I pulled out all the stops and while I feel most prepared for this one than attempts 1-4, the PTSD of test day is so lame. Looking forward to being forced to wait til August to enjoy the summer, but BEC expires in the mean time so it's go time. I'll report back in a few days – great summary by @clusterslugs up there. Many thanks! Eases the nerves to know new format isn't too big of a deal.

Keep calm and study on my friends.

Thanks for taking the time on this Jeff! REG blueprints – if it's not on there, is it not tested? You called out only Dodd Frank specifically as the material being cut on the new REG exam. Commercial paper is not on the blueprints. Forget about it?

    Thanks!

I would still be more comfortable if someone else confirmed my interpretation. Someone in the REG thread said it so I looked at the Blueprints and it wasn't there. I'll post in the Ask Jeff inbox.

Did you know Becker has outlines? Or did I hear the outlines went away in the new software? If you still have access to the old software the outlines are in there and I loved them. NINJA is good too.

What if I told you commercial paper wasn't on the new exam and you didn't have to study it…? 🙂

Per the blueprints – no commercial paper. Can I get a second from anyone? It's been mentioned on the REG study thread.

I tried to go grab the link to the blueprints and the AICPA page 404'd on me. Nice.

@mtaylo24 – I think our timeline on A71 is pretty similar, and based on our expiration dates that makes sense haha. The world would seem cruel to not give you the pass on your 4th go of FAR. Best of luck studying! Then we sit around and wait til August. Which I'm sorta pumped for, because we'll have a mandatory summer of freedom. But I'm terrified for what August will bring.

@mtaylo24 – I noticed FAR is your last exam – woo! But your test date is after your AUD expires? Are you just waiting for some seats to open up before your AUD expire date so you can get it in in time? REG is my last exam this Friday and my BEC expires at the end of this month. Then it's the waiting game til August. So anticlimactic to have to wait so long for potentially my last passing score.

Taking REG for the 5th time this week is such a drag. I have hashed this material so much and while I do feel ready for real this time, I'm just burnt out. But I'm crankin away at MCQ and some notes today. SIMs too. SIMS all week because I cannot be weak again in SIMs! SIMs will not ruin me again!

    Also BREAKING NEWS

The CBA website is down, like, not in the usual score release day type of down. Like, maybe they are launching a new site? One can hope.

*update – boring. it's down because they're moving offices. Maybe they need a larger office because they have hired the staff they actually need to process candidate apps. Again, one can hope. End rant.
