I pray to Jesus that I can get some straight forward SIMS. Now having taken 10 friggin tests, I have seen a crap ton of SIMS, and generally I find them to be either straight forward or a poke in my weak spot. My last take of REG – I finally FINALLLY understand when people say they got out of the world SIMS. My SIMS would be on topics I knew inside and out, but the question and info didn't line up. This wasn't a SIM but what I'm talking about is like this: calculate the AGI for this individual, but I'm only going to tell you how much their moving expenses were, that they had an aunt living with them, and how much interest they paid on their mortgage. You think I'm missing something right? No. I killed my MCQs just to be taken down by ridic SIMS.

Do I sound like a crazy person now? haha. Ok end rant.

@tcohle – I have been waiting to find someone in this 1% with me. I'm in it, though I hope for my sake tomorrow I'm not. I have been able to predict my score within 2 points every time. Don't get me wrong, I definitely am on the wagon of believers that this test is clearly curved. But the only times I have passed is when I walk out feelin' like, alright, I pulled that off. But somehow, I've been able to predict my score. I'm also not stupid and I won't dare throw down the score I predict I'll see tomorrow. 🙂

So – I have never believed the “if you felt like you passed you failed” and vice versa. I know it happens to others but it didn't to me and plenty others here. I don't think people need to leave an exam exhausted – 3 times I've walked out walking on air haha. Everyone is different, as we can see!

@re2pect – I am trying to pick myself up off the floor! I left Prometric feeling so defeated and I need to get over it. My experience sounds like a clone of yours – couldn't tell if MCQs got harder but I think I had medium all the way through. I usually have a good time on SIMS (like I always luck out and just FEEL like I nail them but still fail? ha), and had WEIRD ones today, like you said. I had to re-read and stare at what they were asking. I feel defeated because when I passed AUD, I walked out feeling like boom, that's done, expected least low 80s, then got a 77 . Point being I feel like I have to walk out like I killed it to barely pass. Ok rant over, living it up until March 8 and we'll see what we got! Good job on getting through it!

@re2pect – Tomorrow (Sat) is my major SIM and wrap up day, hit all categories that made it to my “review again because you still suck at this list.” Sunday I drive up to the bay area (to stay at my parents, closest Prometric is 3 hours away from me) so I'll just listen to lecture and do a few MCQ before I go to bed Sunday. You sound like you're in a good spot! I never feel ready for a test until about 12 hours before haha. Like right now, I am getting annihilated by C Corp formations/basis. Fml.

I know it can be good for some to take the day off before, but as you can tell by my score history, I never feel comfortable doing that haha (I always feel like I'm cutting it too close). Like you said, I want to unload this stuff from my brain but am afraid if I take my head out of the book for a minute too long before the test I'll lose what I got. 8k MCQ. That has to be a record? There is no way you won't kill it on Monday.

Yeah, the no-search function is annoying. I just use SIMs as practice. It seems to not make sense at first, like how you explained. Your brain doesn't immediately take you the path the answer showed. 1) Re AICPA codification online. Don't use it. Use your review software. Because 2) How would you know you're doing it right? Becker, NiNJA, I'm sure others have tons of practice SIMs. 3) That's what you need to do, is just practice. Your brain will get on board and start to know what to look for in the search results after you use the search key. People start to learn the structure of the codification, but for testing purposes, you just need to know how to read your results. Practice, practice, practice. It will come to you.
