June 3, 2017 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Interview Help: Describe a time you handle a difficult situation. #1565076TcohleParticipant
Depends what kind of job you're looking to get. You're going in the right direction by answering in the S.T.A.R format (Situation, Task, action, result). I would take a look at the job opportunity's job description and frame your situation to match a job requirement for what you're applying for.
If you're a tax accountant, maybe say you had a client or boss disagree with how you want to report a certain tax situation. (Situation). So you had to back up your answer with tax rules and your reasoning (Task). You researched and successfully answered the client/co worker's disagreement (action). As a result, you saved the client money and improved your relationship (result).
In my interviews I tried to focus on completing tasks under budget (quantify the time), completing work with a team, leading a team, client interaction, etc. Again, tailor your answers to the job description. I've stretched the truth a litttttle bit in some of my interviews 🙂

I originally ordered the platinum wiley…I used it for a month or two then switched over to ninja full time (not just saying this because we're on A71's forum). I like doing mcq and reading the answers, kind of teaching myself. Becker and Wiley give you a lesson plan to follow but I don't think it's that effective. Bottom line, people have passed with every study software. Ninja is less expensive and works well.

REG 3-Thought I crushed the SIMS, felt really good…87I was relieved/tired after the exams. I just wanted to get them done since I had been studying for so long. I guess you really have to be honest with yourself. I always got annoyed seeing people who got 4.0s in school so scared they failed and end up in the 90s.

If I have everything I need from the client (dream scenario, this never happens), I could probably knock out 8-10 easy/medium returns. It's my second year at a public firm.
My firm doesn't expect a certain amount to be done/day. It's more about getting it done on a budget.

So these results go to a newspaper and we're seen as a certain rank as “top places to work for”. It's kinda B.S. They encourage you to be “honest” but really they want that accolade over anything.

Avg week-lunch and dinner breaks too:
M: 9am-10-11pm
T: 9am-10-11pm
W: 9am-10-11pm
T: 9am-10-11pm
F: 9am-530 pm
S: 9am-530 pmWe're supposed to have at least 60 hr weeks with 90% billable. Sometimes I'll get in the upper 60s.
Second tax season. First one last year I think I wanted to make a good impression and stay late. I was also studying for REG during it (mistaaaake!)
I'm single and live by myself, so no commitment there. Although I do like working out and hanging with friends. It's a 5 minute drive to work.
They are all online classes. I looked at ratemyprofessor.com to see what that psychology professor was like and they said “Do you have a pulse? Then you'll get an A in this class”. They said it was just some discussion boards.
Also chose a management 160 class. Seriously just wanted the easiest classes possible haha.

I actually left the testing center feeling confident and I was thankfully right.
The difference this time (Jeff's advice) was starting from scratch-reading through the whole book and relearning everything.
