I work at a firm that let's me do both. When I started I was very audit/tax focused, but as time went on I began enjoying and attending more recruiting events. Now I have completely transitioned into the marketing side. It's what gives me energy. I have people from the accounting side join me at campus events, host in-house events and assist me with professional development presentations all the time. Think – presentations on resume building, firm brand development, etc. It's not a complete 50/50 mix, but the accounting people who do enjoy attending those sorts of events have lots of opportunity to do so.
