NINJA CPA Review

I signed up to be a NINJA blogger to hold myself accountable on this journey. Here is my exam story. I graduated with an MBA/Accounting concentration in 2009. I took another six months to fulfill the 150 accounting credits needed to sit for the exam. Fast forward, NTS in hand, I signed up to take all four exams. The NTS agent reminded me I would only have nine months in which to sit for those exams. “Not a problem,” I stated. How hard it could it be? Watch some video lectures, practice some multiple choice questions and I would be ready to go. WRONG! I failed BEC. With determination, I got back on the proverbial horse named REG. Again, I used the same study plan. I figured I would study a little harder this time. You guessed it. I failed REG too. After that, I stopped studying. Self-doubt and

Hey all! My name is J.P. and I have been at this exam since late 2008 and am now only one REG pass away from being a full fledged CPA. I hope my struggles and successes will be able to help you as you move towards those 3 little letters. A little about me and my history through the exam. I took the long route through college and finally graduated with a degree in Accountancy in 2008. I got married in November 2010 and work for a drug wholesaler as a financial analyst. I don’t have a ton of desire to work in public accounting, but know that the certification will open plenty of doors for me the rest of my career. I started the exam with BEC in November 2008. I tried to cram everything into the last week and ended up with a 61. Not the best

After years of procrastination and thinking that I was not smart enough to go through this process, last year I decided to join the ride and take the chance. I knew that in order to be able to sit in Florida I needed 15 more credits, that’s when God sent me a messenger that recommended applying through Virginia. Making that decision allowed me to start the process without investing more $$$. In order to be able to apply through Virginia I still needed 6 credits which I took during April and May of last year. I passed the classes (online classes are not easy), submitted my transcripts and bought self-study materials. My plan: Complete lectures and MCQs One week for the progress test and general final review which will include re-write the notes. Master tax forms Read the notes every night Non Stop Wiley MCQs I am using the

Some of you might remember me from middle of last year, if not I’m not going hold it against you. I lost track of blogging after entering the world of public accounting and auditing. I’m ready to get back into the swing of things again though and am going to pass this test this year! I started my CPA exam journey in August 2010 with BEC. I was trying to get that one out of the way in 2010 and the other 3 in 2011 and avoid the writing requirement all together. As it happened I came out of the test knowing that I had not spent enough time with the material and expecting a failing score. I did end up failing that one but I wasn’t upset about it because I knew that at least my 18 month credit window hadn’t started yet. You could almost say I
