NINJA CPA Review

Hey Ninjas! Hope your studying is going well and things are starting to click in your head. Being that it’s my third time sitting for FAR, my studying has hit the proverbial wall. I get to a topic and think to myself, I remember that, I should be good. Instead I should really focus on what it is I can improve to make sure I am not studying for FAR ever again. So what I have started to do is to test myself. Say for instance I think I know bonds. I will do every bond question I can and keep track of which concepts give me trouble. Then afterwards I go and rewrite my NINJA Notes for that concept, then rework those questions. This way I am able to focus my attention where it is needed, instead of feeling content. I have just started implementing this method this

Hi everyone!!! Exam day is getting closer, REG on 4/29… I have spent the last week working Wiley MCQs. My personal goal is 100-150 MCQs per day. In addition to that, I have been listening to NINJA Audio and reading my notes during the day. Monday through Thursday, I am going for 3 to 4 hours, Saturdays 6 and Sunday 4. I have now mastered approximately 70% of the material, 30% more to go. My problem or main issues are with all the details that this exam has. My scores on MCQs are so unpredictable from low 70s thru mid 80s :/. Thankfully, I have a little more than a week to go. This week I wanted to show you the 2 “artists” that I have on my iPhone: Adele and Jeffrey Elliott. LOL. You can tell that I am not into music, or I might have being studying

Ben is a weekly NINJA CPA Blogger. This last week I HiYa’ed one of my fellow classmates in the hall with an air karate chop, and besides having a good time seeing their reaction it reminded me that I need to continue to study hard for the CPA. (Not to mention I had a weird dream where I was teaching one of my nephews about discounting cash flows…but that is a topic for another time!) I read something Jeff had written about motivation, and although I can’t remember where it was, it was so good that I am integrating it in my life. He said to write, literally write, down your 3 reasons for why you are going for your CPA. Then, whenever you get tired you can refer back to those reasons

After I finished my lectures I was so pumped to start doing the MCQs. Then something happened. I did the first few modules and I was only scoring about 60% on the multiple choice. I didn’t think I would do so badly. It actually made me less motivated and feel like there is no way I’ll pass the exam no matter how hard I try. I really should not be thinking like this! I decided I would try something different. I have started writing out the NINJA Notes. Not just writing them all out, but writing out the notes that pertain to the section before I attempt to do the problems. I did not take great notes during the lectures, but I did make notes in the book to show what areas the lecturer went over. So my strategy now is: write out the NINJA Notes, reread the areas
