NINJA CPA Review

Sunday, April 1, was no joke for me. The calendar flipped over and there it was staring me in the face: Tuesday, April 17, which marks the day tax season is over and 9 months of studying and exams start. A few weeks before this, I laid out a calendar from now until the 2nd week of January. I set out a week for family vacation in August and a week in October for a hunting trip. And some “fluff” in there for other unforeseen occurrences. I thought I was making a great start to the transition back into exams. On that April fool’s day I realized I had been fooling myself for the last week. I had already started out on a bad foot in the planning stage by being overly-optimistic and not very honest with myself. First, my plan was to start studying for REG, my strongest

How are fellow NINJAs coming along with their studies? Mine, not so good. I’ve hit a bit of a rough patch. Last week, after I sat for BEC, I was on a roll. I started to study for FAR the next day. Could that have been a bad thing? I’m not sure. Well, toward week’s end I started to feel under the weather. Then the weekend came. Of course, I put in a few hours at the office on Saturday, then off to my mother-in-law’s house we went for Easter festivities. That evening my back started to bother me. I went stiff and sore. Easter Sunday came and I was in so much pain I could barely walk or even pick up my 2-year-old daughter. I’ve never felt this before.   Good day to all those out in A71 world! It is official, CPA exam senioritis has set it. With only one section remaining to finish, I am unable to find the motivation to study. This doesn’t come as a surprise as I caught this “disease” in junior high, high school, college, and grad school as I finished up my 150 hours. You would think it would be easy to press on and get through this exam, but it has been a struggle to get through the REG videos. I don’t know if it is “burnout” or just not knowing what to do with myself when I am done. It has always been a struggle for me to get going while preparing, but this time it seems worse. Any suggestions would be much appreciated I have used what I call the hybrid NINJA system on each of my past 3

Hello Everyone! As a follow-up to my last post, my studying habits definitely improved this last week! I won’t say I am 100% happy with them, but improvement is improvement. And, I still think I am on track to hitting my goal of having all of the REG lectures complete before my Florida vacation trip the first week of May. I plan to go ahead and apply for my REG NTS this week. As part of my new approach, I am not going to schedule an exam until I know for sure I will be ready to take it, but at this point I know I will be ready in the next 6 months. I am shooting for the end of May at this point. What worked for me this past week was dragging my butt out of bed early in the morning and getting into work an hour
