So I used Becker for REG and just scored a 70. It is really busy at work with busy season and all, but I don’t want to stop studying because this is my last exam! I bought the NINJA REG multiple choice questions and plan to review my Becker book again. The NINJA MCQs seem amazing so far. Does anyone have any tips for re-studying for REG? Anyone have any comments on the REG NINJA MCQs? Thanks! 🙂

I failed REG using only Becker and passed after adding the Ninja MCQ. I had read somewhere on here ( I think in an article by Jeff) saying that if you missed the 75 by a couple points, and were completely honest with yourself, you were probably pretty deficient in a few topics. I realized I hadn't really mastered topics like AMT and 1231 transactions because they scared me and I just hoped they wouldn't pop up on my test. I went back through and made sure I actually understood all the topics and pounded through the Ninja MCQ and sims. I really do think Ninja made all the difference this time. Try to get through as many as you can and read the explanations even if you get them right! Good luck! 🙂

How many points did you improve by when you added NINJA mcqs @prayingtopass?

@CPABOUND2013, 5 points but it was enough to boost me over! Honestly I didn't dedicate as much time as I planned on so if I had done more I'm sure it would have increased more. However, in audit NINJA mcqs bumped me up 14 points! And I spent a lot more time on Audit. Pretty much you get out what you put into it.

I'm right there with Praying-to-Pass. My re-study for REG was pounding out the areas where I was weak. I re-studied in general liked I needed 75 more points, but I focused on the tax topics that I wasn't comfortable with the first time around. (like-kind-exchanges, 1231, arg!) Becoming familiar with actual tax forms helped me out. I made sure to utilize Ninja materials, particularly the notes (Ninja MCQ did not exist at that time).

I thought I did better on my second attempt at the exam with MCQ, but I thought I bombed SIMS. It was enough to get me by on the second try and my final exam.

I just failed REG by 1 point! And this was when I really needed to pass because failing would mean that I would lose my FAR score. So great. I failed, by a point and now I have to take FAR again. I figure since I am so close I would just buckle down and get a good study program and go at it will all I had and take it again soon. I'm using Roger CPA review. So much cheaper than Becker and still great quality, and at times entertaining. I loath taxes but Roger makes it not so painful. I like how Roger uses examples to make the material more understandable. Here's hoping I pass Reg on May 1!

I'm so sorry @Chimeraboo. That is awful. FAR and REG are horrible! I'm really wanting to take REG again ASAP but I'm getting burnt out. I know how painful a 74 is though so I feel for you. I got a 74 on Audit.. So cruel.. haha. We will get through it though!

For me REG could be a hit or miss depending on what simulations came out. Some of them take at LEAST 30min to do- I had about 4 of those on my 1st go at it, and zero on my 2nd go.

The ones where they make you fill in a tax return or just fill in a million things and have to keep scrolling around are the worst.

For my first time through REG, I studied with Becker. For the second time, I used Gleim, as well as Ninja Audio – for review I went through the Becker Passmaster questions. It was enough to boost my score to a PASS!

The best advice I can give is to crank out 1000's of Mcq's and read the Ninja notes. And they say REG you should study 80-120 hours, I completely disagree. I've studied 2-3 x's as much as recommended. It took me a year to take all 4 parts, but I never had to re-test, so put the extra time in now.

Any opinions on what scores I should be seeing on the Ninja MCQs to know I'm ready?

i heard you should be hitting 80% or more on your NINJA practice MCQs before you are ready. That's my plan anyway @DMOORE33
