And I feel like I am in the twilight zone – I have watched the Becker videos and started working the MCQs and was either choosing the second-best answer or the wrong answer altogether. This is totally foreign to me and I felt so friggin’ defeated. I know AUD is a beast of an exam to study for but what is the best way to go about it? Any links to previous threads would be greatly appreciated (for some reason my work computer is freezing up on the Search field and I can’t pull anything up). Do I read the material a few times over and junk the videos? I have NINJA notes/audio/flashcards and also the WTB. I really don’t want to do a retake on this since I am 30 weeks preggo and am hoping to wrap up the total exam by d-day 😉

    AUD - 89
    BEC - 83
    FAR - 81
    REG - 86
Finally done - many thanks to Jeff and A71!

    F - 5/8/13 81
    R - 74, 2/7/14 86
    B - 74, 12/6/13 82
    A - 70, 11/4/14 89!!!

I'm done 🙂 Many thanks to Jeff, A71 and Roger CPA!!!

Just keep at it, it comes more together at the end, I'm studying AUD now and also using Becker. Don't let wrong answers discourage you. Retake them until you get it right, and go back at the end and do them all again. At the end you will be getting more correct.

Gosh, yeah, you've got plenty of time to keep studying, so just keep going. This is a good time to watch the videos, this far out from your test.

Wrong answers are all part of the process at this point– you're learning how the questions are asked and how to process them to get to the right answer. Do you have the tips turned on so you can learn from your mistakes?

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I utilize Becker myself and I found it helpful to write all the notes/highlights hat Becker has in their videos first. Next, go thru each section and watch the videos. Believe me it's painful, however, I noted that I was able to retain more by doing this and I wrote additional notes in the margin on little tid bits of information that Becker does not highlight or has in red ink.

What also helped me was making note cards of questions that I continually answer wrong and finding the area in the book that covers that specific question. Make your own acronyms if necessary to help you retain the information.

I don't know if you have public experience or not? When I studied, I often tried to visualize what I was doing to prepare before, during and after an engagement. Understand what the questions ask before moving on to another question. You don't want to work so many questions when you don't understand why you selecting an specific answer. As I find myself seeing a word and knowing that word correlates with a specific answer. This got me nowhere as I was just memorizing a question without understanding why the answer was a) for instance.

Audit is no walk in the park as questions come down to two answers and they're almost similar except for a few words. Speaking of words, look for “key words” (i.e. except, not, GAAP, GAAS, significant, material, AUP, audit, comp, etc.)

Lastly, when you're hammering out MCQ's. Set aside some time before, during or after to review the Simulations. Understand the process on how to research properly and efficiently and searching by “key words” to find the proper authoritative literature.

Lastly, understand the processes for each type of engagement (i.e. Audit, review, comp, AUP) and what the rules/requirements are for each engagement. Understanding the Independent Audit Report and the various formalities depending on the types of opinion or specific disclosure that may alter the report.

I wish you the best of luck!

I studied with Becker and didnt pass AUD until my third try. This was the only section I failed (with a 69 and a heartbreaking 74), and the only section that I think Becker needs to really improve on.

I highly recommend you get the Wiley test bank for AUD. It really helps give you a ton more questions to practice with and also goes over some issues that Becker did not mention.

Keep drilling the Wiley test bank till you do every question then set it up to repeat all the questions you got wrong. Thats what I did for my third try and finally passed AUD with an 85.
