I am using the Wiley book for Reg.. It’s been a horrible experience and i feel like i’m going through the pages just to finish the material and not actually understanding anything.. (I have the 2012 becker final review) and subscribed to cpareviewforfree and also the Wiley test bank….. I am thinking of leaving the textbook and just, studying everything from the slides, becker’s final review and the WTB (Reading why the answers are right and all and understanding them)….. would that be sufficient?

    FAR: 77 (1st attempt)
    AUD: 89 (1st attempt)
    BEC: 80 (1st attempt)
    REG: 80 (1st attempt)

I used Wiley and passed. It's pretty good for REG, just boring as hell. CPAreviewforfree has good business law questions but they are much harder than anything you'll see on the actual exam. The most important thing with REG is knowing taxes. If you don't have a good handle on taxes, you will most likely fail. The bulk of the test is taxes.

    AUD - 99
    BEC - 84
    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    NYC born and raised.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

I don't think it is a horrible sign if you are struggling with learning from reading the text. In my opinion, tax law and business law are a lot “thicker” than the material in other sections. I usually read the text 2 times for each exam, but I am considering only reading it once for REG and focusing on doing more MCQs and SIMs since the material sinks in more this way. I will probably read the text again if I have time, but if not, I am not going to stress about it too much cause I think the MCQs and SIMS are more beneficial.

    FAR 12/3/14, 87
    AUD 2/3/14, 90
    BEC 4/1/14, 88
    REG 5/27/14, 94

honestly, jeff's NINJA notes really really helped me out for REG. he does a great job of breaking down the material into easily digestible pieces of information. while the wiley text is technically sound, some of it is overly wordy, which caused me great confusion. try supplementing with NINJA notes.

i swear, i'm not just trying to advertise for jeff, but if he's willing, i'll take an advertising/marketing cut. just saying 🙂

Another vote for NINJA products– while I haven't tried the REG materials yet, I feel like Jeff's approach is really helping make things click for me for FAR. Great supplement to Wiley.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

Luma, I'd also recommend having a print out of the actual tax forms as well if you don't already. Look over the tax forms. It can be helpful in understanding what is going on.

Is it your first time through REG materials? Do you have any tax experience? I didn't have tax experience so it took me awhile to get a better grasp on it. Don't be discouraged, you can do it!

For REG and some others I read just to get through the material and then did the questions and at some point re-read some parts. Sometimes that can help, along with what other people have suggested.

The wiley books are overly wordy. I had old Becker books that I looked at also and it was much easier to read and understand. But for 5x as much it should be.

Thanks Guys !! & No i don't have any tax experience. I studied Palestinian taxation & Palestinian business law in school,, so here you go ! haha that's what i'm dealing with…

I registered my exam to take place on the 14th of May.. (bought the Ninja notes today btw, & i'm currently reading & loving them with the Beatles playing in the background.. Lucy in the SKYYYY with diaaaamonds/// So here's what i decided to do.

Individual Taxation: 25+26+27 apr, Transactions in property 28, Partnership T 29, Corporate T 30,1,2, Other tax topics 3+4 [ALLLLL book MCQs & SIMS after reading the book, and Ninja notes for the next chapter the night i finish the chapter i'm working on…) and the remaining time will be allocated to business law (2 topics per day) from Cpareviewforfree slides and WTB and if i have time…… I'll do some MCQs for taxes thru WTB

    GOOD luck to everyone!
