REG Sims

    Has anyone used the AL on reg sims? Was it effective? Planning for the worse on REG sims

    I actually found exactly what I needed to know for one non-research SIM in my retake. So I know I probably got that one right. However, it instilled false hope for a couple of SIMS I was truly lost on, and I ran out the clock at the end desperately trying to find something in the AL to help me know I was on the right track with those. Don't have much faith that I got those ones correct.

    I would recommend you take the AICPA's practice test on their website. Not necessarily to test your knowledge, but to play with the AL. The AL on REG is different than the other exams. I found it more cumbersome and difficult to maneuver than the codifications. I believe I was still able to use it effectively.

    It can't hurt to use it.

    I used the AL while doing the sims. I found it very helpful on some, and not so much on others. But its always a good idea to at least look, if you are unsure of exactly how a concept is supposed to be working, or what is the exact wording that would qualify someone for whatever.

    FAR: 55, 52, 66
    REG: 84*
    AUD: 54, 70, 73, 72, 79!!!

    I wouldn't worry about the reg sims too much. They seem to get a really bad rap on these forums for some reason. I have never seen anything on a reg sim that someone with a cpa designation should not know. They are pretty straight forward really.

    I haven't gotten my scores for REG yet, but I found the REG sims a lot more straight forward and Authoritative Literature friendly than the FAR sims. But not as much as the AUD sims, which you could find answers verbatim on.

    REG was the only test I used the AL for something other than the research question, because one question assked about a concept I had never heard of.
