Ok. I am getting ready for REG and after going over all these multiple rules concerning industry regulation and regulation of accountants, I have a question for everyone but especially for those who already work in accounting field. Do you guys feel scared/nervous to make some stupid mistake that may cost you? How did you overcome this fear? Maybe some of you can share some stories. I don’t work in accounting yet but I realize that when I do, I will have to exercise really good judgement of every step I make. Maybe I am overreacting. It’s just that we work so hard to pass the test, get a job, and then knowing that one mistake can flush all the efforts down the drain gives this uneasy feeling. Am I the only one who feels this way?

I believe you're over thinking this concept. It is absolutely imperative that you maintain good, sound professional judgement and execute your duties as a CPA with due care; however, you don't need to be stressed out about every step in your career possibly being unethical, wrong or grounds for revocation of your license/credentials. Listen to your gut. I believe we're all inherently wired to contemplate both good and bad – wrong and right. You'll know when a transaction, relationship, report, etc., may require some extra thought from an ethical standpoint. Seek to do “right” in all you do, trust your gut, and move on.
