Let’s say hypothetically speaking I have a uncle sitting on the board of directors for a large company who is an audit client of the Big 4 firm. Could I still work at that firm or would I be disqualified from my job offer? Or would they just preclude me from the particular client and industry?

You would be precluded from work on that client. You could, however, still work at the firm.

I am studying for audit now! Haha You can work for the firm, but you would have to not be associated with that engagement. IT WOULD IMPAIR INDEPENDENCE
