They're always saying a Bacelor's is the new highschool diploma, a Master's is the new Bachelor's, so I guess it stands to reason they'd say a DBA is the new MBA. However, I think the biggest thing it indicates is who makes enough money to drop $100k+ on *another* degree and not be bankrupt. 😐 Personally, I think that the number of graduates with all degrees is making practical skills more highly valued, rather than making another level of education necessary. I think employers are realizing they can't count on some degree meaning the candidate will do a good job – they have to find ways aside from paper qualifications to make that determination. Granted, a certain level of paper qualifications is still required, but I think they're realizing they have to look deeper since everyone has the paper qualificiations.

Honestly, in today's society where everyone has a Bachelor's and Master's degree, if you want to make money, learn how to unclog a drain and go into plumbing (or something similar). Those technical skills are being neglected since a lot of us never learn how to do it. Instead we go by the mantra “I make money so I can hire someone to fix the toilet.” Well guess what? Those people who learned how to fix the toilet can make a really good living because their skills are in very high demand and supply of those skills is dwindling.

    Just tossing that out there.
