Just curious if anybody has had experience with either and how it went. I’m looking for a new job and I would pretty much be entry level. Thanks

I used accountemps right out of college and i got a couple of temp/contract positions with them. It's how I got my AP, AR, and inventory accounting experience.

I was thinking it might be a good idea since I don't have any experience. I just worry that if I take a temp position there is a Chance Of Unemployment. But I'm sure they would find a position once one is up.

I found my current position by working through Accountemps. Just make sure you tell them that you are looking for a permanent position but will do temprary work until they find you one. It took me a few months until they finally found a temp-to-perm position and then I wound up working as a temp for a few months until I was hired. But the last part of waiting was really all up to my current company. They paid less fees to bring me on by waiting longer.

Robert Half is the permanent placement division and accountemps is the temporary placement division. Make sure to talk to a recruiter from each side because they don't necessarily communicate between the two divisions. In my experience they're ok for entry level positons but lousy for upper position placement (YMMV).

I tried robert half a few years ago, and my experience with them was not great…I have a sales background, but had switched careers and went into accounting. I had been looking to move on from my auditing role, and instead of helping me find a new accounting job they tried to sell me on working for them. I made it clear I didn't want to do sales, and never heard from them again. I also used ranstad and it lead to interviews, but every job I've found i found on my own without a recruiter.

All the jobs I see on Robert Half say at least 1-2 years experience is needed. If I don't have any experience, should I apply anyways?

Might be alone with my perception of them, but I attempted to acquire permanent placement back in '10, and nobody ever even seemed to attempt to place me. My resume isn't horrible, and never once did I hear from anyone at their Tampa office, after such time as I went to meet the staff in person. Very pompous group also.

What do they call an accounting person, who only managed a 75 on all four parts of the CPA exam....you got it, CPA!!!

I had a great experience with the RHI Boston office. Negotiated me a huge raise from my public accounting salary into industry. At least they made me feel like they were my agent during negotiations. Its important to give them very specific criteria and I told them not to bother sending me any potential interviews unless it fit my criteria.

This lady at Robert half was so fast and quick. Never gave me the time of day. I was just another number to her. I eventually had enough so I shouted forget it to her and hung up.
