    I say go for it!

I have had my own public practice for over 8 years. Much of that was part time but now I run it full time. I am not a CPA(yet) but in Florida you can have a public accounting practice that excludes attestation and assurance services. I also don't do tax because I mostly focus on financial reporting.

My advice is start spreading the word that you will be going into business for yourself. New clients you receive will mostly come from referrals. Advertising works some times but usually it's from word of mouth. Also, make sure you have a mentor or another fellow CPA you can contact if you have a question. Also, if a client wants you to do an audit or review, see if you can find a contact that would be willing to jointly work on it with you. You can do this until you're comfortable doing an entire audit all by your lonesome.

    Good luck! =)

I have been on this journey off and on for over 10 years. I think it's about time that I wrap this up.
