AUD advice

Hi, I am in need of some advice about re-taking audit…. I’ve failed the test twice already (went from a 71 to a 74). I really don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’ve been studying Becker materials and at this point I have everything on Becker memorized. I started taking the exams in May and have already passed FAR and BEC with Becker. I am not sure if I should continue studying for REG or to stop and take AUD again in January. I’m working full time with a big4 firm so my studying time is very limited.

Any advice would be much appreciated!! I am unsure if I should stick to Becker again or if I should buy other study materials (Wiley, or ninja notes) for AUD. Has anyone supplemented Becker materials with other material?? If so, what did you use and what are your thoughts on it? Thanks!!!

Are you using the AL for the SIMs? If not and you do this on the next exam I would bet you raise your exam score by a min of 10 points alone! In case you aren't using them you can use the AL to look up answers on the SIMs for audit, I found word for word answers for a few of my SIMs i swear it why I got the grade I did!

If you are already using them do you supplement Becker with anything? NINJA? Wiley? I found the NINJA notes extremely helpful for all my exams..

    Good luck

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

For me, using the authoritative literature for the SIMS, and switching up my review materials made the difference. I used Becker originally, and used Roger's when i finally passed after 4 failures

    FAR - 1/26/2012 - PASSED (78, but Lost credit), re-do 11/27/2013 - PASSED (87)!
    AUD - EPIC FAIL, 71, 69; 68; 5/25/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    REG - 10/1/2012 - 72; 7/1/2013 - 73 UGH, 10/1/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    BEC - 2/28/2013 - PASSED (82)!
    Licensed CPA!

Used Becker self-study materials (just this for FAR original & REG #1), WileyTestBank, NINJA notes/audio, and Roger cram course for AUD #5, REG #3 & FAR reboot. CPA!

I am also studying for my AUD retake. Can you guys explain how you used the AL for the nonresearch SIMS? I've tried doing that in WTB while I'm studying and I'm not getting anything out of the search function that is particularly useful. I've seen a lot of people say they found stuff word for word, but while practicing it doesn't seem like that is possible.

I was able to use AL for the a couple of simulations but most of them weren't able to be answered there. I had stronger on all sections of MCQs but was weaker on simulations, so I think that was definitely the reason why I got a 74 and not a 75. I just know that I would want to supplement Becker with another material since it did not do the greatest job for me. I did all MCQ at least 2x over and re-did the simulations. I understand that there isn't really a best plan for tackling the simulations though.

I'm thinking of purchasing the Ninja Notes and then Wiley test bank for AUD. Does anyone else recommend anything else? If so, why?

    Thank you!

    @ Gerg(or anyone else)

I am curious about how you liked Roger. I am thinking about buying one section, because you can now take his course though a state college for credit. I was going to take him for REG but was he good with audit?

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

CPAMommyof3 The AL search feature is not available in the Wiley Testbank. If you know to use the feature it will come in handy on exam day.

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - NINJA in Training
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD - 1/6/18
    FAR - TBD
    REG - TBD
    BEC - TBD

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

@CPAMommy3, try this site if you haven't used it https://www.aicpa.org/BecomeACPA/CPAExam/ForCandidates/HowToPrepare/Pages/literature.aspx

It is much better in terms of search features and overall usability.
