To candidates that have passed AUD, what would you say helped you passed the most? (non stop mcq’s, rewriting the notes, ninja audio, etc)

What helped me was lots of MCQs and practicing the SIMs, even though they are kind of nuts sometimes. Also brush up on your basic journal entries and ratios (like for FAR).

The biggest thing with MCQs is to get the feedback right away on why you got the question wrong (or right), and start looking for those key words that led you astray or were missed– was there an “always” or a “never”… was there “except” or “not”… was it about a comp and you were thinking review… was it about issuers and you were thinking non-issuers, etc.

I also use my resources as I'm doing MCQs– don't look at a question and think, “shoot, I don't know that concept” and then guess the answer– look it up and learn the missing info. As you build confidence and learn the material, you will need your resources less and less, and then you are ready for test day.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I used the same strategy for AUD I used for REG and BEC. Use Becker, Do all required MCQs, and read WHY it is right or wrong and make a note if there is something interesting. Those note pages are like GOLD during your review. I was scared to take my FAR book on my last trip since I realized that if I lost it I was screwed.

Anyway, my strategy served me well! Passed in 3 weeks with a 95!

I'm of the camp you can't practice SIMS. I did them haphazardly, yes, but I used the Authoritative Literature on the exam and just kept a cool head.

I did a lot of MCQs (obsessive amount), but what really helped the most was getting on the AICPA website and reading the AL directly. When I got into that website, I started noticing the subtle differences that my review material was trying to teach me.

I also used the AICPA website to look up everything – i.e. if I missed an MCQ, I looked it up on the website to read as much about the topic as I could.

Just go to the AICPA website and register your NTS section number. It took a couple of days (and the registration went to my spam folder) so get registered as soon as possible when you start studying.
