It was maybe a little better than last time.

There were some MCQ’s which were difficult but also many I knew for sure. It appeared that the second testlet and third got harder but I can never really tell. I am fairly certain I did well on the first testlet.

    The SIMS were REG sims.

    -Research was easy.

-Three SIMS were identical in form to last test but the facts were different, which made it just as hard as last time.

-One was on a topic not even covered in CPAExcel but I think I did fairly well on it (I’m guessing that due to the topic, it was the pre-test).

-One was semi easy, should have picked up some points on it.

All in all, feels like a 71 or 72. Kind of bummed but get glimpes of hope.

Now that this is done, I’m getting promoted at work and will be traveling out to CA. Assuming that grades are released according to the schedule, I’ll either be on a plane, in LA, or at the Ronald Reagan museum when I get my grades back. It will likely be a rough trip.

I’m just glad to be getting some rest.

    I'm an attention whore….and you're an ass.

Feel free to skip my posts if you don't like them. I'll give you plenty of opportunities to practice the effort.

CPApending, I think you will pass this time. GL and get some rest. I moved my test to 09/4 instead of today. how much time did you allocate to the SIMS? was it enough? was it heavy on taxation?

    FAR: 77
    AUD: 81
    BEC: 82
    REG: 78

Mycpa, good luck. I seriously thought about changing my date but it probably wouldn't have mattered. The SIMS just seemed to work the edges of the major topics so much was guessing because I didn't know the particular peculiary rule.

I actually went through the MCQ's much quicker this time, even with taking time to recheck them I left two hours for the SIMS, which helped. I was able to overcome the initial panic, settle in and really think about them. Last time I think I only left an hour and a half. As I mentioned previously, if something is in your SIMS,it is left out of the authoritative literature. So I was able to find a couple pieces of parts to the SIMS but not much help overall.

I think I will be close, certainly not the high 80's like before. I'm still thinking it is a 71 or 72. Time will tell.

Best of luck to you on 9/4

Thanks for sharing. It seems to me that your exam experience is a little better than many who took REG recently. 2 hours for the SIMS is defiantly a good sign from my point of view. I will shoot for that on my exam too. congrats on the promotion and hopefully there will be another one in a week. GL

    Thanks.

If I don't make it, the frustrating part will be that tax will have killed me again. The hard to swallow thing is that all the questions/SIM parts that gave me trouble are the fringe pieces. Questions that if a tax client asked me, I'd have to say “Hmmm, I don't really know offhand let me look it up”.

Hypertechnicalities that the review courses do not touch on. If the CPAExcel gave a list of 10 items, some of the SIMS items would be numbers 14 or 15 on the list….way down there stuff.

Oh well, I prepared twice now and that's the frustrating thing…I was ready but just got killed by really specific stuff.
