Does anyone have any successful tips for studying the IT section? I know NOTHING about IT and I’m having a difficult time understanding the language used.

I can’t decide if I should write everything down in a notebook or create index cards? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Which study program are you using?

I know people may shun me on this, but if you ever have a question on things like firewalls or VPN's I would use Wikipedia to get some more info on it. Nine times out of ten the wiki article will explain anything IT related in better detail with pictures or graphs that can be better for a visual learner.

    Hope this helps.

IT is by far the hardest section on BEC.

Part of the reason is because, we go into the exam thinking its the easiest section to study for.

To study for IT you MUST have at least two different study materials.

I promise you, it is a MUST. I used Becker and Wiley, and sometimes I still felt it wasnt enough.

But 1 type of study material is not enough.

I was using becker but I realized that I didnt know anything until I used Wiley.

Also, Do Not Underestimate Business Structure. It was really easy to study for but the hardest questions on my test. Good Luck

i had this same question on cpanet

i first started taking notes but found myself rewriting the whole module word for word from the wiley book. i decided to just write down little things here and there and read the module over and over until exam day

I took BEC 4th window 2010 and found a bunch of IT stuff Becker didnt cover. If you are using Becker, look elsewhere for some more information on IT

    Thanks for all your input!

@ bendercpa: I'm using Becker and I have heard they are not the best at explaining IT. Not to mention they have this really really boring NEW guy teaching it!!!!! All he is doing is reading the material to you….not any help at all. That's a great idea…I'll start doing further research online.

@ nugs: do you think buying the Wiley book to supplement Becker is enough? or do i need buy the software as well….I think one of my co-workers has the Wiley book and if that's the case, I'll just borry it =) I should read through it at least once….or maybe they'll explain things better than Becker.

@nolifecpa: I have like 5-6 1 subject notebooks all over my desk!!!! Writing things down has not been working so much for me….it gets messy =( Time to start making some flashcards….but they take so much time.

    Good luck!

    Any other suggestions out there?

Kaplan has the best flashcards for IT. Additionally, be sure to answer all of the questions in Wiley for IT. I did not find any review course that did a good job on IT.

    Yes, you should borrow it.

Becker is sufficient reading material for everything except IT. You will need extra reading material for IT and I suggest extra studying for Business structure.

Forget about econ. If you get 10 questions on it you got really lucky…
