I wish. I am at work and cant find it haha. But, I think this is one of Expected value I saw on the forums:

Dough Distributors has decided to increase its daily muffin purchases by 100 boxes. A box of muffins costs $2 and sells for $3 through regular stores. Any boxes not sold through regular stores are sold through Dough's thrift store for $1. Dough assigns the following probabilities to selling additional boxes:

    Additional sales Probability

    60 .6

    100 .4

What is the expected value of Dough's decision to buy 100 additional boxes of muffins?

    a. $28

    b. $40

    c. $52

    d. $68

    This is what I know:

Expected Value = Chance to win + Chance to lose

Chance to Lose = Amount to Invest x (-)%loss chance

Chance to Win = Potential win amount x %win chance

Can I utilize this for the above at all?

Back to BEC after just taking FAR. anybody have some old Becker materials or wiley they are willing to lend? i Use MDS which helped me pass previously and lost credit, but just like to supplement since material isn't so heavy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Good luck all!

Zach – my thought process is that you would have a 40% chance to sell them at $300, which means you would have a 60% chance to sell them at only $100. If you are buying them at $200 then you would make $180 on the sell which is $20 less than what you bought them for, but clearly I am wrong because -$20 expected value is not an option. Not sure what I am missing.

Ok..I will take a stab at it….I could be totally wrong but this is what I get.

First of all, We make $1 for each unit we sell at the regular store and lose $1 for each unit we sell to the thrift store.

    1. 40% chance of selling 100 = $40 – we accounted for all the units.

    2. 60% chance of selling 60 = $36 – need to account for the additional 40 units. If there is a 60% chance we sell 60 units at the regular store then there is also a 60% chance we have to sell the additional 40 units to the thrift store resulting in a loss of ($24).

    So $40 + $36 + ($24) = $52 which is letter C.

    Again…this could be totally wrong…

That's the problem with BEC. I had to take it four times to pass it and I can honestly say that each of the four times, I felt like each time, they pulled questions out of nowhere that I knew nothing about. You can never really know everything that you need to, which they could test on, for BEC. I am sure you'll do great!

I am going back through the becker questions, feeling actually ok scoring high 70's and 80's on B1 and first part of B2. And then variances…..I have looked at this stuff a lot and just still cannot grasp them (mainly efficiency and usage variance). Does anyone have any video lectures online or anything supplementary that helped them with this? I refuse to let them beat me this time!

Caroline Brown, the product manager for a U.S. computer manufacturer, is being asked to quote prices of desktop computers to be used in Kuwait. The Kuwaiti government wants the price quoted in British pounds, for delivery next year. Brown knows that the general price level in the United States is expected to increase by 3%. Her banker forecasts that the British pound will depreciate about 5% this year with respect to the U.S. dollar. If Brown is able to quote 700 pounds for immediate delivery, the price that should be quoted for delivery to Kuwait next year is:

    A.

    about 735 pounds.

    B.

    about 721 pounds.

    Correct C.

    about 757 pounds.

    D.

    about 745 pounds.

I understand why the 3% makes it rise…but why does it rise again when the pound depreciates by 5%?

My question is…..why the hell are they paying in British pounds when they live in Kuwait. Wouldn't they be paying with Dinar or dollars?
