Anyone have luck with extensions or anything of that sort? I got the full set last year and activated in January, subsequently abandoned the cpa, and they are expiring sometime at the end of July. Anticipating a BEC failure, I will need to explore some options.

Option1: re-study BEC and take in July

Option2: take FAR and use Becker book/Wiley test bank only for BEC retake

If I pass BEC (and I’m not expecting it, it would take an incredible amount of luck which I seem to lack at the momet). I would just shoot for FAR and take it from there, but it’s highly unlikely.

I'm in the EXACT same position.

I'm taking FAR tomorrow (so not ready), and not expecting much. My plan is to start BEC next week and take it before Becker expires, and hopefully pass. I'm planning to breath & live BEC next month! Then, I'll try to call Becker and see if they can extend it until August. I've heard that they often extend it if you show them you're registered to take the exam in that testing window. If not, then I'll use Becker book & Wiley testbank & Roger cram for FAR. I also have Becker final review for FAR.

I looked into it and it's a grand for one section (not sure if they give the returning student discount if you buy separate packages ie. one section vs. all four before). Hopefully they will do it. It would help a bit since I already spent so much $$ on this test (my fault for mistiming, but I totally freaked out after my REG retake and got ninja notes and wiley test bank – good investment btw but neither alone can serve as a primary study course, at least not for me).

It's a $1000 to extend one section for a month??? NO WAY. That's such a rip off.

I'm def. not doing an extension in that case. I'm not going to watch videos again. I'll just use the Becker book (love the book) & do Wiley MCQs. Most of Wiley & Becker MCQs are similar, plus Wiley's bit harder which will be great!

I'll start BEC right away, and hopefully take the exam before Becker expires. FAR will have to suffice with Wiley.

Yikes, sorry not what I meant. To buy a section separately is about a grand. I don't know how much they charge for an extension (or if they don't – which would be great).

Btw – is there any chance you can pass FAR? Meaning have you gone through all of it, are you semi-comfortable etc?

I just simply don't know all the material so that's why it's unlikely for me to pass BEC. And I gave up on reviewing today as I was getting frustrated to the point where I was getting every question wrong.

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that just today I received an approval for a one time courtesy extension from Becker. However, in order to do this, you must send them a copy of your scheduled exam and the exam has to be scheduled within 1 to 3 months of the current software expiration date. My FAR exam is scheduled 8/11 and they extended until 8/12. Hope that helps!

Yes it helps. That's awesome news!! Thanks for sharing. Hopefully they can do the same for us. I already have the nts so I will just schedule the exam to have a confirmation. Did they extend a particular section or just the entire software package, I presume the latter.

From reading the instructions, I believe it will be only for FAR which is the only one I have left(praise the Lord). If I am unsuccessful at passing FAR and the software expires, Becker has a policy that will allow you to get the materials again at a very reasonable price and provided you show them completion of all the homework. Ok thanks. The reason I'm asking is because I got the full package originally so it only came with one activation code. Anyhow I guess I'll see how it goes and ask them (it will probably be both BEC and FAR). Did you call or correspond with them via email?

@candothis: Thank you so much, that helps a lot!! My software expires around July 11, and I'm hoping to retake FAR end of August. Hopefully they'll extend it for me as well! Thanks again:!)

@Tina: There are 9 chapters in 2011 version and I have gone through all of them once and did the hw, scoring around average of 60% first time. Then I began my review process. So far, I have reviewed up to F6 and took bunch of progress tests scoring from high 80s to mid 90s. However, I still have CF, Gov't & NFP to go…MAJOR topics. I had enough time to do everything, but I lazied around and was very overwhelmed with the material. I really think FAR isn't too bad, but it requires lot of time…which I'm running out of ahh.

We'll see what happens…Please Dear God, Help me!!!

I actually called them to begin with. They initally asked for my serial number. They followed with an email of the instructions to follow to request the extension. For me it was just sending them a copy of my appointment confirmation from Prometric.

CPA628 don't give up hope. At least you've been throught it once. Keep me posted tomorrow and on score release. I'm bringing my red pants (don't have red panties!) for luck to wear for the exam. It's super hot but I will change @prometric 🙂 Anything that might help! And praying for a miracle of course.
