I know it won’t help me at all, BUT would it hurt my standing as a CPA exam candidate if I called the NASBA after today’s liquid lunch and shouted obscenities at them for their bullshit assessment of my AUD exam?

I feel your pain, I also got a 74- I knew that material like the back of my hand and can't even think of what my weak areas are. Something is just not right 🙁 I am crushed.

Seriously, post here from memory all the audit opinions you memorized for the exams.

When I took the exam, it seemed that just knowing that was enough to answer the majority of the MCQs on the ENTIRE exam.

It is easy to complain that the exam is unfair, that you were prepared, etc. I'd like to see some proof of that though.

    Tony,

I used Gleim premium system (or whatever they call it) materials & followed their methodology and passed Audit. I didn't memorize the reports or any of that. I took a slow & steady approach – 2 of the Gleim chapters per week for 10 weeks, then two weeks to review (they say one, I took two.) The day before the exams I was re-reading chapters I was struggling with.
I walked out of the exam with NO IDEA how I did. I was utterly astonished to see an 87 this morning.

I don't know if that will help you or not.

    @ Tony,

What study materials did you use? I think ninja MCQ really is the main reason i squeaked by for FAR……

I would ditch your old study material and get something new and just start over as if you never studied it before. Your so close. Which sucks the most. Also, for the other people, don't kick someone when they are down, try to find a way to lift them back with helpful advice, we are all in this war together.

I agree, do not kick someone when they are down. @ohiostategirlcpa since you seem to have performed well on the exam maybe you can be more of an actual help on this forum and provide some actual advice and encouragement.

@gigabyte: good stuff buddy, congrats. I have a last ditch effort on AUD in August before losing FAR credit so i might as well give Gleim a shot

@tacctfin: I actually used Ninja MCQ for the last two AUD attempts supplemented with Ninja Notes and Audio, and my base program is CPA Excel. Ninja MCQ helped me pass REG

@ Dantrick and @Ashia: Thanks fellas. I think ohiostategirlcpa is just trying to use tough love. She gets an unmodified opinion with an emphasis-of-personality paragraph

I don't mean to be unhelpful, but some of these threads seem to feed on anger, unfairness, and negativity. I don't think that is going to generate a positive outcome.

To blame the scoring is also a tad unfair to the all who passed and/or scored high.

Yes, I scored high, but I also prepared a lot. I knew FAR, could do ratio calculations, knew how to audit/uncover posting errors, memorized the major opinions, and more.

If it is of any help, I believe, from my own experience, that there is a method for doing well, and by following it, you too will succeed.

Just fyi, NASBA neither creates nor scores your exam. They get your score from AICPA and relay it to your state board.

Give the AICPA a piece of your mind, lol.

This isn't the place to practice dealing out tough love to internet strangers.

    Feedback, with tact is appreciated.

I know your pain, Tony…I had 74 / 74 on REG and I wanted to throw my laptop through a wall.

Check out my (free) survival guide … I deal out tough love with tact when it comes to failing … because I've been there myself 🙂

I also failed AUD just now with a 72. I understand that if I had studied a little bit more, I would have passed, but knowing that doesn't make it any less agonizing or devastating.

I can tell you right now as I type this at work, I want to crawl under my desk and not speak to a soul for the rest of the day, but life goes on. I need to find a way to knock this exam out by any means possible, even if it means giving up all my vacation time for the year to get extra studying done.

I just hope the gratification of saying I'm done someday is worth giving up the extra free time.

@Jeff: I know the survival guide well and it helps. On days like today, however, only aggressive typing and message board venting will get me back in the game for tonight's study session.

Also, nothing on my Emphasis of Personality paragraph line?…ill see myself out

I used CPA Excel when I took AUD for four times and I failed. Maybe you should switch your study material. Some study programs work with some people and some don't. It just depends on the individual. I switched to Ninja Book. I read the book and took notes. Supplement that with Ninja MCQ and maybe Ninja Notes, then you are gold my friend and ready to kill that B*tch! Pardon my language.

I have BEC on 5/28 and i plan on continuing to study for BEC in case I fail so I can take it again first day of Q3. Then I plan on going hardcore AUD again to take it end of August since it would then be do or die (assuming I pass BEC) before losing my FAR credit.

I think the logical thing would be to study like new with different course materials while keeping the Ninja items I have.
