Can we get a list of CPA consultancy firms?

You have the Big 4s where one can do consulting type of work, usually within Advisory. I am sure some of the other Big 8 have consulting practices as well. What other known names are out there specifically for CPA consulting? I live in California.

    Thanks!

Consulting encompasses a wide variety of services, hence why the term “advisory” is used as a catch-all umbrella for the services to fall under.

That said, for risk assurance and internal audit “consulting” there is Protiviti which has a fairly large presence in CA.

A bigger name in forensic accounting and economic services is FTI Consulting.

A large valuation and transaction advisory firm is Duff & Phelps.

It all depends on which type of “consulting” you are looking for. CPAs can provide a large breadth of services, so you really just have to know what you're looking for.

Thanks Surfer. I have heard of Protiviti of course, but didn't know they had a large presence in CA. My cousin worked for FTI Consulting for a number of years. Never heard of Duff & Phelps.

The reason I mention consulting is because I am an IT/business consultant right now, with zero accounting exp, except that I have (almost) a CPA designation now. I need to figure out how to use my CPA with my consulting experience, hence the question.

If you're in IT/Business consulting right now, then Protiviti or any other risk assurance/IT Assurance/Business Process consulting firms would probably be right up your alley. Pair your CPA with a CISA or CIA and you should be able to hop into those roles fairly easily.

Tomq – If I get anything higher than your score on REG, I will be seriously pissed off…

Surfer – No more certs. Seriously. I don't want to be one of those ppl with 10 sets of initials next to my name. I already have an MBA/PMP, both of which could be removed…lol.
