A long wait til' September...

A long wait til' September...
you aren't even lying!!! I have a lot of studying to do in the mean time!!
So are you saying that no matter when we take an exam in this window we won't get the score back until september? I thought the score release process was supposed to be improving...oh nasba
@ Cpa2behopefully - that's correct. the process does not 'improve' until Q4.
oh man...that is not what i was hoping to hear. Well thanks for the info. Guess i will learn to be patient after all
Even seeing this thread gives me an anxiety attack. This may possibly be the last time I am waiting on scores....
Q4 - quality control, ya know? :)
I find this thread both distasteful and offensive.
Considering many of us snailmailers haven't even seen scores yet from April/May. :P
j/k'n though it does just add fuel to the proverbial fire knowing so many others are already studying/re-studying and my state claims today they're still waiting to receive the rest of the BEC scores.....
ARrrRRGH!
when i get scores for reg, bec and aud in mid sepember... it'll either be the best or worst week ever.
@valueofnothing
You might be a little optimistic with the "mid september." It will probably be the last week or last day of september.
This last test window seemed, at first, to be an improvement. But we all know that it was just a huge mess, once again.
In a way I'm glad the results don't come out until the end of the quarter. The reason I say that is I'm planning on sitting for 3 exams this quarter and I'll be in a studying grove, I don't need any distractions inbetween (like I failing score). I'll lose my motivation. Good Luck everyone!!
OMG, I can't believe I am checking this thread already!!! What the heck is wrong with me?! I haven't even taken any exams this window and shouldn't be even thinking about scores yet!
Good luck to EVERYONE who takes exams this window!
in my prometric test selection there are no available test dates for the month of july and august ....how can this be? the only available dates this year is only for september...and u have scoes expiring in Nov beginnig...pls help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Assuming you are not doing anything incorrectly, you may need to expand your distance and include some Prometric centers you may not have otherwise considered. You would think they would have some sort of waiting list since we know there are going to be cancellations, but I am not familiar enough with the process to comment on that.
can't wait till oct/nov when they finally implement the new system. hope it works like they say it will. this waiting till the last week of the "off" month has been horrible.
nnenna, I'm not sure you should be seeing dates for September at all. Prometric shouldn't have any CPA exam dates available in September at all, testing only happens in July and August, with scores being released at the end of September.
Jeff - thanks for posting about the "reprint" your NTS feature. That saved me about 5 days in being able to re-register for the sections I failed. With not being able to get scores so late/re-register so late, spaces were very limited, so every day helps.
I have another question though for folks here. I got my scores via the website, but never rec'd the actual score report to tell me how I did. I thought the report is mailed from the TN address, but when I called today they gave me some PA number to try to get a re-print...but that was just a recording. I really wanted to see my breakout by topic/simulation so that I could know where my weak point was. Anyone have any tips to get around this? Thank you!
@nenna
I think you may want to take a breath and start all over with your hunt for a test date. Start at the Prometric site and go through all the clicks that take you to the search for a location. You may have to travel farther than you would have normally had to...there are a ton of people taking exams this window and so test slots have already filled up very fast! There should not be any spots available for the month of September. I had checked for dates last week and there were literally none at my usual testing center, but when I checked again this week, there were spots available. I am thinking some people cancelled or something...
good luck!
just a note to anyone who is still waiting on paper scores. our PA state coordinator just emailed me back saying that "the machine was down" that prints/mails score reports. She said they were mailed out yesterday.
And now we begin our "test prep", "testing", "post test freedom", "pre test release anxiety", and then hopefully "post score release happiness". Good luck to everyone!
How does everyone study for simulations? I keep getting "weak" results and "strong" in MC so that has to be why I can't pass.. I try to do as many as I can but you will never get one similar to the practice ones.. any advice my test is thursday lol
@ 74really
You cant really study for the SIMS. You can, however, use the auth lit to assist you in looking up the topics.
My long wait until September begins today...Took Audit yesterday and feel pretty good about it though.
@mep616 -
i'm right there with ya. i took AUD on friday so i know the wait for september is going to be a long and miserable one. at least i have studying for my FAR test in august to keep me occupied...
good luck to everyone studying right now!
Hi All Regulation-ians! I have one more exam to complete to become a CPA (aside from the open book ethics after you pass all 4 exams -- but that to me doesn't count as a stressful exam as it's open book!). I have to sit for my exam by 8/31/11 and pass or I'll lose Audit credit. WHY CAN'T I FOCUSSSSSS!!?? This should be motivation for me that I'm at the end of the dark tunnel, but it's been hard. I think a huge part is the stress from my fairly new job in a new industry, but even still...I need to focus. I thought I'd come on here and read others comments on studying to motivate me...at least knowing I'm not the only one at home studying late at night helps!
Good luck to everyone who's sitting for an exam this year and those who are waiting for their score. I hope for positive results!!
Happy Studying! :)
I just took AUD. 4th try and i studied SOOO much for this time. But my question is: Has anyone ever gotten the same question more than once while taking the exam. i.e. i literally got the exact same question today 3 times. Once in the 2nd packet of MC and 2x in the third packet. Does that mean i was doing poorly? Ughh, so frusterated. I made sure to note it at the end of the test, but i studied so much for them to give me the same question 3x :(
@phillyrocks87
I got the same question 2x in one testlet. and another version of the same question in another testlet.
@mep616 i'd be interested to see if that means we were doing well. it looks like you're lined up to pass (hopefully), but for me, it's always a crapshoot. i'm interested to see how this pans out... thanks for the assurance (LOL AUDIT), glad to know i'm not the only one
I took FAR yesterday and had the same question twice. Once in testlet 1 and the other in testlet 3. I knew the answer so I'm hoping they both counted!
Oh, and it's a long wait until September!! I'm starting BEC tonight. I'm giving myself 5 weeks of study time and will close out the August testing window with BEC!
@Red: Have you passed any parts yet?
FAR was my first exam so no :)
@RedRage, I'm very happy to report that even after I got the white screen of death at the end, everything went through okay! If I remember correctly (which it's sort of hard to remember after I freaked out), I had the same question twice, once in testlet 1 and once in testlet 3! It seemed sort of easy, which makes me wonder if they are grading either of them?
What Does it mean when you see a question more than once? I had the same question twice too. I thought that was weird.
Also whats the game plan for most of you since score release is so far out. I was going to sit for Reg in October and resit for AUD in November. I dont think I passed this time around for AUD.
I got the same question twice in FAR too. I don't know what it means but I knew the answer to that one.
I'm tackling BEC in 5 weeks to close out this testing window.
Hi all, read all the posts but haven't really posted before. Anyone got suggestions for motivation? I'm a dad with a family and full time job. I'm disciplined but this is getting to me. Any good CPA movies to watch to get pumped up? Ha.
FAR 66, 77
BEC 70, 83
AUD 63, 76
REG 72
The Smartest Guys in the Room is worth watching...
As for motivation, you are at the finish line! That should be quite a bit of motivation to cross it...I listen to some great music during study breaks, sing along and just forget about the world for a few minutes...a fantastic song for doing this is is: Open Happiness. I Seriously love this song, it was created for a Coke commercial and is such a feel good song. It gives me my mojo back :)
I take REG 8-31 and have to push to stay motivated too! Let's both do this last test, pass and be done with it! Here's to a number greater than 74 in both our futures :)
Thanks! It's comforting knowing there are others in the same situation. I'll check out the tips and your blog.
Here's to finishing strong...
It really sucks waiting for a grade.
It does!
My friend took his nursing exam and got his results the next day. Why can't it be like that? LOL
Accounting tests are MUCH more serious than an exam for people who literally work with life and death. :)
Sad to say I went to the CBA site. I have no idea what for. Just to see that part that said I took it. LOL... The worse part is by the time they release summer will be over. It goes by so fast.
@mom - Lol. I go there once a day too, I have no idea why. It's like I am expecting my FAR score to disappear or my AUD score automatically show up. Makes no sense. I have a problem. Lol
Y'all have problems :)
What I think is comical is the PE exam compared to the CPA exam. You can bring material and not as intense...to say the least.
Is it just me or were testlets 1 and 3 for BEC fairly easy, with testlet 2 being unbelievably difficult? I felt that was when I took it a few weeks ago, and my friend who also took it a few weeks ago said the exact same thing.
@Newbie58: The test is adaptive. So the 2nd testlet gets harder if you perform well on the 1st testlet and the same goes for the 3rd one. It is a good sign that the 2nd one got harder...
I got a lovely email from NASBA a day or two ago reminding me about the score release timeline. It was considerate of them - but as if I didn't know!!
I was really wishing that email would have said sometime earlier in September...
With you on that one, although I was really kind of hoping that they had managed to improve things that the scores would be released even sooner than September, depending on when one takes the exams.
Oh well.
I guess I can post here now that I've officially joined the waiting game. Count me in for waiting on reg and bec. End of September is a long way away.
I am assuming scores will not be released any earlier for the 3rd quarter, but does anyone know if they will be released more frequently or sooner for the 4th quarter?
I think 4th quarter is when they start releasing scores about 2 weeks after you take the exam
Glad to know I'm not alone. I just want to be done with already!!
I am very tired of this waiting game. I'm used to bad news on score day but I just wish I could find out. I'm honestly considering giving up the battle if I don't get FAR this time because I will have lost AUD. It seems really crazy to me to have to study and retest for something I already passed and this exam is really taking the enjoyment out of life!
Hopefully, the score wait this quarter won't be so bad for me. The only exam I'm taking this quarter is REG, which is scheduled for 8/30/11. So, what is it? Only a 3 week wait??
Sure sounds short now. But once I walk out of the exam room on 8/30, it will be the longest 3 weeks of my life. I can already hear the AICPA laughing, "Mwahhahahahaha!!!"
@hilaryh_88- I failed FAR 4 times before I passed. I had to change my study methods in order to boost my score to an 89. If you fail, don't give up. Just change your way of studying. You can do it, trust me. I felt the same way as you did when I failed it 4 times.
CPA Man, I'm with you, I intentionally scheduled AUD as late as possible in this window, figured I was going to spend that time either studying or waiting so I may as well spend it studying. The last week of August is closing for me at work so the 25th was the best I could do.
It's back! Yeah!!! I sat for REG last week. I am not too confident that I passed. I got a 87 on my practice test; however, the actual exam was nothing like my Becker practice test. The SIMS were awful. There was one SIM that was not in my study material. Luckily, I was able to remember a little from a college course I took in college. I THINK I might of got it right. I have a feeling if I fail, it's the SIMS that did me in. Does anyone know if they give partial points/credit for the SIMS? How exactly do they grade the SIMS? I am hoping for a score close to passing or passing at this point. I have already mentally prepared myself to have to sit for it again next window.
If there was only 1 Sim that you were stuck on, then you're fine. 1 Sim is not going to kill you and chances are, it was probably a pre-test one.
Since there are 6 Sims on REG with one being a pre-test, only 5 will be counted. Each Sim is worth 1/5 of the 40 points. So each Sim is worth about 8 points. And they grade each Sim based on the number of boxes you have to answer. So, let's say you had one Sim on MACRS depreciation. On this Sim, let's say there were 8 questions asking you to calculate the depreciation. Each box is worth one-eighth of that Sim. If you get only 4 questions out of the 8 correct, you'll get around 4 points out of the 8. You don't have to get an entire Sim right to get points.
And it also could be (although it's never been proven) that each particular question is weighted based on difficulty. We don't really know for sure. The AICPA has this whole secret grading system. But one thing I know for sure is that there IS partial credit on a Sim. If you get only 4 of the 8 boxes on TB Sim #1 correct, then you'll get points for those 4 questions you got correct. Trust me, if they required you to get all questions in one SIm correct, then these exams would only have a less than 10% pass rate, lol.
Don't worry. I'm sure you did fine. if you got an 87% on the practice test, then you'll be fine. Most people do better on the real exam.
