CPA Excel vs. Wiley Test Bank

I used CPA Excel to pass AUD and BEC and am sitting for REG next week. I took a look at the FAR material and there are over 1900 multiple choice questions!! This is about 800 more than the other sections. Looked up Wiley Test Bank and see that it only has about 1100 questions. I am worried 1900 will overwhelm me so I’m thinking of using just WTB for FAR.

Does this seem like a dumb strategy? It took me forever to get through BEC and AUD and I’ve only got three months to study for FAR before I lose BEC. I know that sounds like a long time to you guys but I am slow! I’d appreciate your thoughts on this. I’ve got no experience with WTB which does make me a little nervous.

    FAR- 85 I'm DONE!
    BEC- 75
    REG- 60,60,75
    AUD- 74,74,83

CPAExcel used for BEC, AUD, REG
Exam Matrix used for FAR plus NINJA Blitz, cpareviewforfree and a little CPAExcel

I use CPA excel too and it took me 6 months on and off to finish the FAR section 🙁 It was horrible but I passed. There was just so much info I kept getting discouraged and would stop studying. I haven't used Wiley, but I think you should use whatever will keep you motivated and chugging along! I think the key is just to answer as many questions as possible and definitely take the simulated exams a couple of times before you sit.

AUD 1/18/2014 PASSED (Half way done!!)
    REG 5/30/2014
BEC 2/24/2014 PASSED (I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!)
    FAR 12/1/2013 PASSED

My advice is to divide your time by the number of chapters/subjects, and go over every one to the extent possible.

I think your strategy of just doing all the MCQs is somewhat backwards, although effective.

I would first find out what subjects you need to know/learn and then study accordingly.

    BA Mathematics, UC Berkeley
Certificates in CPA and EA preparation, College of San Mateo
    CMA I 420, II 470
    FAR 91, AUD Feb 2015 (Gleim self-study)

M.O.D. makes a good point. You could just take the diagnostic exams first for each section and see where you are weak at and go from there.

BEC 2/24/2014 PASSED (I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!)

I agree with MOD on allocating total time by number of chapters; it's a must when you have a firm number of days to prepare. I would suggest initially starting with a set of 20 MCQs on each topic and keep track of your stats by topic. This is an easy way to see right off the jump where your strengths and weaknesses are and can better utilize your time!

Thanks for your opions guys. I will be doing SIMS as well but I don't do the video lectures and frankly I don't read the material. I know that sounds crazy but I have issues paying attention and just learn from doing multiple choice and SIMS and reading the feedback. I may just get the WTB and use it for MCQs and SIMS. I think 1100 questions versus 1900 will help me be less overwhelmed.

And I agree with dividing my time up too. Since I'm down to the wire I'm going to have to manage my time better. WannaB_OKCPA I am just like you. But I've got to get this thing done in three months. I will be so mad at myself if I lose BEC.

Thanks, Mints. I am so bad about managing my time. I wanted to quit so bad after my second 74 in AUD so I had to create this ID to remind myself that I am not a quitter 🙂
