CPE Question

    Hello,

Had a quick question regarding CPE and was hoping someone could help. I know that 120 credits are required over a 3 year period. I also know that half of these credits need to be satisfied by attending live classes, as opposed to self study.

As far as the topics of CPE go, I am not in public accounting. I am currently a Financial Analyst, does this require that I obtain a certain amount of credits under a certain topic (auditing, tax, etc.)? Or am I free to attend whichever classes I want.

    Thanks for any help!

You may want to say what state because there will be different requirements. In MA, I can do all of my CPE online and the only requirement is the Ethics CPE.

Best thing to do is contact your state board.

I'd recommend that you contact your state board. Each state is going to have its own requirements. I know my state requires 120 credits over a rolling 3-year period, and that aside from 2 hours of ethics (included in the 120), they can be in pretty much anything you want. I also don't think that a certain amount of hours has to be from live classes.
